It would be nice if they have a status you could call before you use the login service, e.g. is_facebook_running: dologin; else sorry_facebook_down. I use several APIs that offer this.

Bill Viola did this using strobe lights in an installation format. You can recreate this yourself easily with a programmable strobe. Thanks to Edgerton for the inventions. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Harold_Eugene_Edgerton

Is there are chance you might actually enjoy the process? Do you want to learn how to manage a technical team and all the mistakes and wonder that comes with it? Maybe you can do it after all, but if it's the idea itself that doesn't do it

I feel the same way while learning a new technique on an instrument. It's having that focus and attention to detail that you can draw upon in your work when you need it.

According to their pricing at 2.9% + 30c per charge that leaves you with 18.55c. Paypal is 5% + $0.05, a massive 47.45c. If Stripe could even partially match that I'd be delighted. I'm currently looking into Amazon's aggregated option and h

What are the chances of Stripe offering micropayments like Paypal? For charges of $1 or less. There are so many areas waiting for this, and Paypal just isn't friendly enough of a platform to try this direction.

Agreed. There is a difference between someone who has become an expert in any topic and can demonstrate a willingness to dig down into that space, and someone who has just taken the surface path. The former probably can learn, the latter ma

Oh, it gets better: try searching for something in the top part of the nav then play hide and seek with the auto-complete items. Classically bad JS. Maybe it's for IE only?

Itunes and Amazon work as long as you are the kind of person who deals with restrictions ok. How many times have I had non-technical friends come to me with their iPod and ask me how they can share music with another friend and be frustrate

It's using GPS, so it's live. Go back tomorrow during the day and you might catch a real tornado. Not sure what time of day is best, I assume the late afternoon after the weather heats up.

Given a series of increasingly sophisticated verbs and language processing, there should be no practical reason why machines could not use and write APIs to talk among themselves and build their own interactive services. Too sci-fi for now?

I'm looking forward to a world where some books return to their 1800s newspaper-style formats: short chapters published weekly, like we get some graphic novels on the web now. I WANT to pay the author, and look forward to this happening. It

We've been in the same boat: competition is GOOD. They help build the marketing buzz, and many people look for alternatives to see who is offering the best deal or solution for their problem. They can help explain the problem you are solvin

I agree with teaching Processing. What is wonderful about it is that you get immediate visual feedback, and an immediate interest in learning algorithms.

I have to agree completely: math and science just hasn't been cool and it's ostracized not just girls but I bet a hell of a lot of boys as well. I dropped out of my extracurricular science/computer classes as a teenager to maintain my socia

As a woman in a technical field who is fascinated by 'deep' technology, and mentors other girls to foster their own interests towards a technical career, your comment serves to isolate and offend. Please keep divisive gender-based comments

Again and again, criticism comes up against affirmative action to get more women in computing. How can this possibly be unfair? How many of you know what it is really like to be a woman in computing? Can you imagine what it is like to go to

That's absurd. I am constantly recruiting for more women in my field and talking to those in school about how programming can be exciting and challenging. Many of these girls are already in computing classes, with 1 or 2 girls to 20 or more

I don't mean to sound divisive but certainly on this forum GoDaddy is considered harmful to users due to it's willingness to shut down domains without due process. While it's unfortunate that other registrars cannot match the referral fees,
