I don't see why this should necessarily be surprising or viewed as a bad thing. We've been using essentially the same controls to operate motor vehicles for over 100 years. Sometimes the market evolves these things to a point wher

We bought a Costco Novaform Serafina 14" about six months ago, unpacked it and let it pop for a few days, and its been the most comfortable bed we've owned.

Wow, interesting question but I don't share the negative interpretation of some commenters. I think this could literally go any direction and its really subjective and hard to give you advice on. It's very possible you'll joi

I can believe they kept this pretty quiet inside the company while they figured it out... but I have a really hard time believing the CFO was out of the loop.

Not sure if serious, but on the off chance... seems unlikely. We create "Lorem Ipsum" gibberish to fill space because modern technology has made it trivially easy to do so. The same exercise would have taken a medieval writer many

I think the problem with this approach is you're actually selecting for a related skill that might have little to do with whether the candidate will be successful. Some people are very good at doing the work but don't perform well

Good points. I would also have expected that they'd be in radio communication maneuvering that closely to a large merchant vessel in a busy seaway.

It's rather bizarre isn't it? Not just the failure to maneuver safely in the presence of another ship, but also the fact that whatever sensor technology they have didn't alert them or was ignored. Pretty much every modern com

The article makes a lot of sense. If you know ships than it's not difficult to imagine how timidity - an unwillingness to literally "rock the boat" by making a course or engine revs change, waking up a senior officer, etc. -

Regarding CI/CD we use gitlab pipelines to build and push containers and run 'helm upgrade --install' to update charts in the cluster to use the newly pushed images. Works very well and not at all difficult to set up.

It may not be but if Google's goal is to promote authoritative sources there's no reason to consider WSWS to be authoritative for those search terms, imo. I'm not saying I agree with their goal, just that this seems consisten

Mmm, maybe. I'm certainly not immune to being fooled. I am careful, however. I roll over and check any link in an email before I click it, and I know when I am or am not authenticated into one of my google accounts. It's all too e

Look, writing software is a trade. If you're not getting satisfaction from the act of creating something and doing a good job of it, even if that something is less "amazing" than you were hoping it would be, you probably need

It does create the framing but I just don't see how it is relevant to the conclusions drawn. There are entire companies that are remote and are obviously able to communicate problem domain expertise and execute effectively.

The author could have just left the "Remote" part out. This piece is really about hiring independents for gigs vs. building and educating your own team.

The point is there isn't like a formal definition of "a blow" that you can resort to. It can be "a blow" for any number of reasons, and it doesn't take a ton of imagination to conjure a few.

Maybe animations are a good idea, maybe they're not. It depends on the use case, obviously. But this is still a nice bit of work, and we ought to just recognize it for that. After all, if practicality were a strict prerequisite half th

I'm a huge fan of the Foundation series, and I really can't see how it can be adapted for video in any sort of faithful way. For one thing it's almost all dialog. There is very little action or exposition, the former of which
