I might be the square here, but for something as serious as an encrypted P2P platform that is meant to evoke trust and privacy and security, the silliness of that README is an odd match. And I don't think that's a trivial thing, a

Turns out I don't really have any holes in my knowledge that needed to be plugged from this doc, but this is a solid resource for those learning Rails. Very detailed.

Thanks for this. I already have tons of experience in Rails, but I learned by doing and not through a book so I reckon I have some holes in my knowledge here and there. I'm experimenting with hybrid learning of both doing "learnin

Thanks! Haha, the Reddit bit was just to put in a gag that I feel like a lot of programmers will recognize, nothing more.

Thanks a ton! I tried to make the intro video simple yet deliver the message effectively, and it's good to hear that folks get it.

Thank you! This is amazing to hear—those qualities of the app (simple, intuitive, gets out of the way) are exactly the points that I want to target, so I'm really glad that it's hitting on those. Cheers for the feedback.

Good call, I'll try to work on adding a replay button to the page—though since there's so few elements already and one more may break the balance of it. Thanks for the feedback!

Thanks! Totally agreed, I think that psychologically, 'free for a limited time' makes people have to make a decision on whether they want it now or not, which is an interesting behavior.

Thank you! I worked on making it highly targeted so people knew exactly what it does as quickly as possible, so I'm glad that it got across.

Nice work. I've also recently released my first Mac app [0] and I'm working on getting the word out about it by making it free, the idea being that if it's known by people, it can be spread through word-of-mouth, especially i

That was nearly four years ago; what's the current consensus on this issue? Has there been any new research that has come out in support of, or against, Lustig's conclusions?

Hi there, I'm Mark. From my experience using GitHub Issues as a main bug tracker and project management system, entering new issues was an ordeal when repeated throughout the day. Opening up a new browser window and everything broke my

The link that resets phones in #2 resets them without warning . Along with #1 and this article, I'm seriously baffled that any company can be this incompetent.

This reminds me of the moving brackets between form elements in OpenLaszlo—anyone remember that from circa 2008? (Can't find a live demo, but looks like this: http://cl.ly/image/3Q2g0a182M46 )

At the unlocked price of $550 for the iPhone 5c and $650 for the considerably-better iPhone 5s, it doesn't seem like there's a huge price gap here. I have doubts whether it'll sell that well as the mid-level smartphone. The 4

Technically, yes. The name of the key is set by default as the account name in the app. I haven't looked into how the secret is stored in the Google Authenticator app—hopefully it's stored securely or with some level of obfuscatio

(I've studied two-factor authentication using HOTP and TOTP, and built a node.js implementation of it.) The QR codes simply divulge a URI with the secret key for generating tokens. They look like: otpauth://totp/[key

Is reducing beta waves actually a good thing? It might allow for focus and relaxation, but I wonder if that might do something like clear your working memory and make you less able to make connections between things. Could anyone that has a

Since we're seeing a lot more of these kind of single-page apps, it might be wise for the browser vendors to implement a JS API to trigger the loading indicator on-demand, so it would show the loading UI that users are already familiar

I don't think so. As more sites move away from full page refreshes toward just changing the DOM (using Angular, Backbone, Turbolinks, etc.), I think we're going to see way more of these. The problem is that you can never rely on

It was a crazy thought for me, too, but something to also consider is that there's some selection bias in the Chinese that you might talk to (i.e. Chinese people that talk to foreigners regularly) vs. ones that don't; the ones tha

In the same way that I only see Nate Silver's decision from my own perspective, I'm interested in why he might have picked to go to ESPN, because I'm sure that he has his own internal reason for doing so, like I do for travel
