There was an article on HN a few days back on how it’s very hard to convey all the context in your head about a codebase to solve a problem, and that’s partly why it’s actually hard to use AI for non-trivial implementations. That’s not just

I’ve experienced this too and it’s not just no-names. I have a wireless gaming keyboard from SteelSeries, certainly a very legit brand. I lost the original USB-C cord. Tried every USB-C cord I could find, and they power the keyboard and cha

I don’t see how it could be categorically wrong. To me it’s categorically right: Auto Layout specifically is intended to restrict the possible layout options. You trade off adding limitations for how much you can do in a design and move thi

I think it’s user preference. For me it’s easier to get to the punctuation asterisk (basically muscle memory and <0.5s) than to tap the formatting menu, wait for the keyboard sheet to go down and the formatting sheet to go up, tap Bold,

Amazing resource, but is it still being updated? Last update seems to be from back in July last year.

I also hate empty speak, but I think the issue here is not that it doesn't communicate anything, but it does so with overly flowery language. What I'm reading is the "material" concept unifies 1) location in space and 2)

I'm not sure I entirely agree with you on your first point. Writing isn't like code in that code is like a complete system of logic. I think having ways to show how that logic is organized, using positioning (whitespace) and color

That's a good point, and I should have clarified, I'm referring to the full stars (not half-stars in the new proposal). Not a Unicode issue, but definitely something I've seen at least on macOS machines.

I love this – but does it bother anyone else that the outlined and filled stars have different sizes? What's the reason behind that? HN strips the characters out from comments, but they're displayed in the beginning of the article

This is a cool concept, but the triangle idea is more effort than it's worth IMO. Having to have a way to communicate between the two triangles plus having separate batteries for both, not to mention the weirdness of losing one of them

It's ridiculous on the face of it, but at what point do you need to have a CLA signed? 10 bytes? Having an arbitrary cutoff for what needs a CLA or doesn't, I think, is probably even worse than having a CLA.

I'm cancelling my Comodo certs today. It's scary that this is the largest CA in the world. Sibling comments have brought up some good points about the baseless claims in this post. The CEO also quotes this Let's Encrypt blog
