All good points, but now you moved the trust requirement from me having to trust the people working on the code, to me having to trust the tool that hosts the code. I'm not convinced your model is better. :P

Sure, but again, you've added convenience - or what you feel like it's convenience - for something that probably can be achieved right now with open source tools. A "CONTRIBUTORS" file with sign-offs by maintainers is an

By the same way I know how the commit signers are who they say they are in "regular" usage of GPG: I have verified the key belongs to them, or their keys are signed by people I trust to have verified, etc, etc. Like a sibling said

I'm not sure I understand exactly what you mean, but you can combine go:generate with go run so you can execute code from the current module/project that does what you want. //go:generate go run ./internal/enum

Some of the new Suunto watches are bragging with 60 days battery life (with solar probably), but still. I only managed to get a little over two weeks out of mine.

I fail to see how monopoly is avoided by using a Google driven rendering engine.

I'll take your comment at face value, but implying that alternate rendering engines is just "duplicate work" instead of providing one of the few ways to fight against the full monopoly on the web by Google is plainly absurd.

I am still bitter over Mozilla's migration off XUL based extensions. Pentadactyl one I'm still missing ten years later. :(

I don't see anywhere in TFA where it's implied that the temperature drops as an average, or that somehow it extends past the green area. I feel like you've been misled by a strawman that you created yourself.

Using double-@ user identifiers for actor discovery is not an ActivityPub feature. It's a bastardization of webfinger resource search added and popularized by Mastodon. In ActivityPub URLs are the identifiers, be it for actors or anyth

With all due respect to Steve, he only demonstrates how the AT protocol ecosystem has ways of passing the buck from content creator to (uncreative but rich) middlemen, for dissemination, moderation, content curation, etc. That is antithetic

Could you tell me why spending a modicum of effort to sort one's trash in order to save more work for other people in the pipeline is a scam? Until we get robots to do this, I mean.

Sorry, I feel like I'm not getting my point across: if building independent software that implements a "federated" protocol doesn't give you a "PDS" then the protocol has failed. You shouldn't need a refer

There is barely any project that supports client to server ActivityPub protocol, so from that point of view is underwhelming, yes. If you tried to implement a Mastodon compatible client, that's a different thing though.
