IANAL, but that doesn't sound right. A "copy" would be internet visible code repository. If it doesn't contain the LICENSE file (assuming that's what OP has) it's in violation of that rule in my opinion.

It's not clear what you're complaining about here. The fact that many people use this option, the fact that Julia included it in the article, or the fact that it's an option to change the default branch name in the first plac

I think Jonathan Blow's programming language, Jai, has an implicit context available to any function. However in Jai the context has a lot of implicit functionality, on the top of my head at least logging plumbing, and allocator plumbi

I think most people are upset that Mozilla went from a CEO with a compensation[1] of ~800K and decent market share to one earning around 7mln but with the scraps of market share that we have now. Nobody can say if Eich would have done thing

How about the rest of us? I don't have a resource of the top of my head to present to you, but in the least keyset pagination is superior to the offset one because it does not get invalidated by new inserts.

That is not _all_ he talks about, yet he does it enough and with enough of a lack of empathy that people get upset and amplify it to the levels that it's most of what you see about him if you're a normal person.

If you ever watched Blow talk about higher education, you'd know he does not have a great opinion on it. As far as I remember he dropped out of Berkley before getting a degree, he's mostly self thought, and he considers most of th

As I replied to a sibling comment. I agree that I can review PRs on my local machine, which is sometimes what I do, but that means that the upside of viewing them directly on the source forge is lost, and I might as well have received a pat

I don't look at the patch by itself, I hoped that was clear. I apply the patch locally, where I have the full context. I can of course do the same with the PR, but then it loses its convenience. :)

I think we can all agree that the main reason why developers require distributed source control is in order to facilitate development in a parallel way. So, as a maintainer the purpose of such a request for collaboration (it being a PR or a

Personally I _always_ got better taste in the sauce if I make it from tomatoes, even supermarket bought ones in the winter. But it might be just some bias that I haven't done it from a can in a long time. :)

Cooking the garlic from the start makes it lose all its flavour, unless you use a tonne. Using tomato sauce is a very small convenience (maybe 40minutes worth, which mostly is waiting) vs making the sauce from scratch from fresh tomatoes. T

Cooking every meal from scratch is a recipe for disaster. Despite what this blogger tells you, reheated, next day pasta is still delicious, so you are allowed to cook more than one serving per person. My go to pasta takes maybe 45m to cook,

That's what (in)famous kernel dev Con Kolivas[1] was doing up to late noughties. I'm not sure if he's still active in maintaining out of tree schedulers though. [1] https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Con_Koliv

I mean the end-user can always write the glue required to get the current running window get its process and mark that as the "high priority", but that's still working under the constraints of the regular scheduler.

The linux kernel has no concept of "active window process". It has the concept of "current process", and deciding which process that is, is exactly the job of the scheduler. :P
