Sorry, I can't really function in an environment that thrives in this kind of duplicity.

I did exactly that and now I'm in the process of being fired because my boss was pressured into snitching on their team members that don't comply. So, YMMV. :P

As it sometimes happens, I actually have a next day update. An HR representative organized a meeting from one day to the next, and iterated in no uncertain terms that they will not negotiate any severance and the only result for my actions

Chuck it to me being a little neuro atypical, but I can't fathom how lying is "showing respect". :)

I'm in the EU and my employer is currently taking action against me for disregarding the 3 day a week RTO. Currently we're in negotiating phase. It can end either in dismissal or, hopefully, a severance package that would take int

I feel like this type of behaviour lacks respect both for oneself and for one's boss.

> folks with this type of attitude don’t make good team members in my experience. Comparing this line here with what TFA is saying, the lack of empathy is astounding.

I think you're projecting. What it means is that now the browser is Andreas' main focus after he announced earlier last month that he will step down from Serenity OS's team.

And does that seem reasonable to you? I hate to brandish trendy terms, but it sounds a little ableist. [edit] Also, what will the developer struggle with if they're not able to come up with a convenient response to "why do you wan

Based on the answers in this thread it seems like there's a large chunk of people for whom the "apart from money" is not implied. And I think that's what TFA is in support of any way. Neurotypical people might understand

I always thought HN doesn't have RSS, that's why https://hnrss.org was created if I'm not mistaken. I just saw there is actually a feed for the main page.

Sure, but if a truck that picked up sorted plastic arrives at the landfill, it's going to be dumped all in one place. If at any time in the future we devise a way to efficiently get rid of it, it's easier to remove it from one sin

In this specific example it's not the Commission that drives this initiative, but the Council, which is formed of head of states for the individual members.

In this specific case I believe that it's the EU Council that pushes for the current iteration of the law, which is formed of the head of states for each EU member. So, even if they might not be explicitly elected to be in the EU gover

I always thought that lack of "magic" in a programming language means that when (as a human) you read through source code you are able to reach the end of the program. Opposite to that, in a language that has "magic" you
