All you need to understand is the *Core stuff are optional . .NET Core is a tradeoff. You give up lots of nice stuff and you'll be able to run on Linux.

MonoDevelop is cross platform and decent. "And when it's all running on .NET Core it should be even faster." The IDE is written in Java and obviously runs on the JVM.

Sadly all the tiling window managers i've tried suck on multi monitors though. When i switched to 3 monitors i gave up on tiling wm (for once with 3 monitors i had A LOT more space).
