The "go into trades" thing has two major flaws: 1) The supply of work will skyrocket when everyone will flock there for work 2) Demand will plummet as the white collar people who bought these services will loose their jobs and inc

What about response coherence with longer context? Usually in other models with such big windows I see the quality to rapidly drop as it gets past a certain point.

He couldn't achieve at least parity with LLMs during his days at Meta (and having at his disposal billions in resources most probably) but he'll succeed now? What is the pitch?

This is how it will go at least in the near term. Engineers will be phased out slowly by product/project management that will prompt the tool instead of the tech lead for the changes they want. And in the longer term those people will

The Mac OS is the thing that keeps me away from those computers. I really don't like when a piece of software tries to treat me like I have some kind of brain injury and needs to "help" me at every point.

Some people are basically "built" around working and getting laid off is devastating to them even if they have cash reserves to live like kings until the end of their lives.

> The real skill has always been the ability to make good design decisions and that's still the case in the LLM era. For now maybe yes but the goal is totally removing the human from the decision loop regarding technical stuff.

Did you ever you the newest LLMs with a harness? Because I usually hear this kind of talk from people whose most recent interaction was with GPT-4o copy-pasting code into the chat window. Maybe I'm biased but I don't buy someone t

That monopoly is worth less as time goes by and people more and more use LLMs or similar systems to search for info. In my case I've cut down a lot of Googling since more competent LLMs appeared.

I would say that MS here is undervalued. They do not offer some small software package for a given business problem but the whole shebang - the OS, mail, calendar, office suite, IAM, cloud, etc. + support for each and the whole integration.

Well it is like Thiel said in a recent interview - European companies and investors are very risk-averse and will never be a vanguard like the ones in the US. You'll never get here that kind of cash for any risky project, it usually is

Vibe coding is an idiotic term and it's a shame that it stuck. If I'm a project lead and just giving directions to the devs I'm also "vibe coding"? I guess a large of that is that 1-2 years ago the whole process was

The problem is not reliance on AI but that the AI is not ready yet and using general-purpose models. There isn't simply enough doctors to go around and the average one isn't as knowledgeable as you would want. Everything suggests

I wonder how strong such an agent would be today if years ago AlphaStar was on par with pros. All those fun projects (the one with Dota 2) died out when LLMs took the scene and RL died out.

At work unfortunately (?) we don't use any AI but there is movement to introduce it in some form (it is a heavily regulated area so it won't be YOLO coding using an agent for sure). But my side projects which I kinda abandoned a l

Why do people assume what currently available is the ceiling, especially after the last 2-3 years of explosive growth? Do you truly believe it won't get better, maybe even better at whole system design and implementation than people?

If I'm not mistaken the US (e.g. intelligence agencies) can still require them to provide client data and respect US sanctions? AWS should be ditched altogether and something Europe based chosen even if it requires investment.

Wouldn't it be better to just go with nuclear? Isn't this a gigantic waste of space and overhead to maintain it? And how "renewable" are the materials used to produce these?
