Actually as all email traffic is sent in clear text (unless encrypted using PGP or a program of the sort) - these can be read by any node between your SMTP server and the recipient's POP server not just the end points.

That is easily solvable - clog/duct-tape the exit nozzle or tamper with the cartridge test (a lot of the substitute cartridges already disable this)

I had a professor in college that used to say A+ is for me, A is reserved for God, A- for the head of the department, and the grades B+ and below are for you... So by that line of reasoning I assume that O(1) is reserved for the author.

It was significantly easier for them because the transgression was done by an external contractor. I doubt they would have been this quick or this forthright had it been an internal job.

That seems like an awfully complicated way of doing it, why not use a digital voice recorder (your pc/cellphone) to record each set of beeps and play it back.
