I wasn't talking about brain computer interfaces, although that is an interesting field. Note to self: try our algorithms on EEG data... My point regarding the materialism was that if you can simulate the physical/chemical processes that ha

I think genetic algorithms have been able to surpass that standard a long time ago. While the developer has to define the playing field and the rules, the solutions the computer comes up with are way better than randomly searching through t

First time entrepreneurs usually confuse equity with control, there can be dozens of mechanisms, by which VC's can gain control of a company they invested in. A few examples: * Controlling all C-level positions, firing you at will (which wi

Actually music exec have a solution to the problem it just takes a long time to implement. The solution is known as 360-contract. Currently labels profit only from the selling of albums and some of the merchandise, but not from tours, spons

Every big software company needs an ax murderer, on my first day in my first professional job they told me "always write your code as if the person who will maintain it is an ax murderer who knows where you live.". So I guess they gotta sta

I actually use a blend of C & Python, C for doing the heavy lifting and Python for the rapid prototyping. Most AI algorithms have clearly defined segments that are very CPU intensive, by only using C in those areas I get the optimal bal

But then Apple would have to spend a ton of resources on getting OSX compatible with a gazillion different hardware setups. It will either slow down iterations or hurt the user experience, the "it just works" magic.

Defining edge cases without technical knowledge is problematic, load times are meaningless without load testing, so basically all you'll know is if the code works, and that is a very low bar to set especially for a startup. And even if you

Another neat trick with slices is that you can do a partial update on a list. a = range(6) a[::2] = range(10,13) -> generates a with [10,1,11,3,12,5] I saw a very elegant implementation of Eratosthenes sieve based on that trick

I use the term intelligent laziness, that is the constant desire to minimize the effort you will need to invest long-term in your life to achieve your goals. Suddenly writing code cleanly becomes a very lazy thing to do, it reduces the amou
