I went the other direction. I got tired of Plex trying to jam live tv and other monetizing features down my throat.

I don’t understand why someone would want to store all their credentials with one of the large tech companies. It seems like this makes it really easy for law enforcement to grab access to all accounts easily.

Most security tools are noise generators. Figure out how to separate the alerts that need attention from the rest.

I’ve been using ledger for years. It works great. Just don’t show raw output to tax preparers. They won’t know what to make of it. You have to generate reports they can understand.

No thanks. Those code examples are full of indirection and the bottom example reminds me of the object nested spaghetti mess of large PHP frameworks. Just because code reads well doesn’t mean you can understand easily what it actually does

The suggestions here are not great. For example file syncing has no mention of syncthing and recommends something I’ve never heard of.

No, each time is different. We just had the biggest and longest bull run in history. The economy moves in cycles. The longer the prosperity move the steeper the correction. Something like this is long overdue.

I can’t believe people still use PayPal in 2023. They’ve been known to be terrible for like 15 years.

I love monorepos. I feel like they are even more helpful for small teams and smaller scale. The productivity of being able to add libraries by creating a new folder or refactor across services is unbeatable.

Woah cool. I did the same thing. I Made a poor man’s small scale splunk replacement with SQLite json and go. I used the built in json and full text search extensions.

I’ve met a few people in my life that avoid deodorants and soaps and claim they don’t need them and don’t stink. They all did. My theory is they get used to their smell after awhile and can no longer smell it.
