Don't forget about taxes and fees. When you look at the price of a domestic (US) ticket, it's surprising how much of this is taxes and fees that the airline is passing through and not directly profit.

SchemaHero ( https://github.com/schemahero/schemahero ) is an operator that was bootstrapped with Kubebuilder, updated to new API versions, and isn't too complex to look at the code.

I thought about that too. It's could be a good solution because the challenge otherwise is going to be listing all objects in the bucket and comparing to what's in the R2 bucket, right?

Good point about double paying for storage. There's a long migration problem here to clean up. Most of my buckets have some frequently and some very infrequently accessed objects. To address this, there needs to be some sort of an acti

IMO, the best feature Cloudflare added to R2 was the automatic migration. This makes sense for a CDN to offer, but if R2 works, this makes it pretty simple to migrate. "After specifying an existing storage bucket, R2 will serve request

We created and use SchemaHero ( https://schemahero.io ) for parts of this. We use Terraform to create the database (RDS, etc), and then SchemaHero to manage the schema in a declarative method.

I'm glad you are doing better. I think the author here does understand what burnout is, and was able to notice the symptoms a lot earlier. It shouldn't get to the point of not even being able to decide what to watch on Netflix. Bu

Also have heard folks make an argument that it's more economical to plan to live in the post-climate changed world than to stop climate change. See https://www.amazon.com/False-Alarm-Climate-Change-Trillions/...

Notion doesn't even need to offer these guarantees in their SaaS service. They can just ship to my Kubernetes cluster, and let me manage the ingress and storage, and that would be enough to make it mission critical software. In the mea

VS Code has the Remote SSH extension. ( https://code.visualstudio.com/docs/remote/ssh ). Since I was already using Visual Studio code as my editor, creating a pretty large GCP instance and using it has been amazing.

Congrats on releasing this. I'm a big believer in declarative schema management. Migrate looks great, and I like how it allows autopilot, but that workflow step to inspect the generated migration AND to alter it, if it's incorrect

Who is claiming that if a bug fix fixed and not documented meticulously in JIRA it is as useless as if it was never fixed at all? That's not my intent as the parent here, or the point I'm seeing or picking up from this thread. The

I don't think the comment was implying that a manager has to eyeball the ticket to make it worthwhile. The comment said there's value in documenting the process, and I agree with that. We use a ticketing system to track work. It&#

There's a lot more to Kubernetes than avoiding lock in. Pick your favorite managed provider (GKE?) and stick with it. Use all of the GCP native tooling also so that Google can manage your network ingress and load balancers, TLS certs,

Gatekeeper is an easy way to deploy and manage admission policies in Kubernetes. Kubernetes admission policies allow you to set custom rules on what can and cannot be deployed in Kubernetes. Gatekeeper is a CRD (Custom resource definition).
