With regards to the other front-page story about attracting new Debian Developers - https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=41599327 - This article is great for understanding the deb format. Lots of tools can make deb archives

I looked around too - Mandarake only had popular consoles; Super Potato in Akihabara and Retro TV Game Revival in Osaka had MSX, but no FM Towns. The store clerk read my enquiry off Google Translate on my phone and gave me a one-word reply:

What a wonderful story. I spent a while playing with `iconv` commands to solve your mojibake, reinterpreting bytes in and out of Shift-JIS, but I didn't get it - i'd love it if anyone managed to figure out the exact encoding,

Calling a C function with Cgo has a certain overhead if you compare it to calling a Go function. But cgo overheads are completely negligible as soon as the function does any kind of real work. (A bigger reason to avoid cgo would be if you w

I made some progress on a similar transpiler some years ago https://git.ivysaur.me/code.ivysaur.me/php2go but never really finished. I still have the use case. Do you know if there's any production quality transpi

HTAs are tied to MSHTML.dll (the old IE renderer) and WSH/CScript is tied to the old, slow IE javascript engine, right? I would expect this to have very limited compatibility, and even with the transpiling, very limited performance. Or

It's hard to summarize like that since Ladybird is still ahead in many individual tests including important ones (e.g. acid3 at https://staging.wpt.fyi/results/acid/acid3/numbered-tests.ht... ).

Cgo overhead was made 5-30x faster in go1.21, and it was already within noise levels in this article, so i'd use that.

AMD's definition of "support" I think is different than what people expect, and pretty misleading - ROCm itself will run on almost anything, back as far as the RX 400/500 series: https://en.wikipedia.org/

You can cross-compile Cgo, you "just" need a C compiler and linker that works for the target platform. osxcross, xgo have some or maybe you can set CC=zig cc. For macOS you need signing/notarization tools either when building
