Another point worthy of mention: a lot of Americans tend to disregard tech that is not as "sexy" or "in your face". Is traditional engineering not tech anymore? I'd definitely add Volkswagen, Daimler, and BMW (actually, almost every Euro au

Just out of curiosity, what have you driven at 160-180 mph? I'm a huge car nut myself and would kill for an opportunity to do that.

Actually, that's not what herd immunity means. Herd immunity is based on the concept that, if a large enough subset of the population is protected from infection, then others in the population are inherently more protected due to lower tran

F13 is running KDE 4.4, which I've heard is actually a significant improvement. Not as big of a deal as 4.2 -> 4.3, but still worth noting.

I'd suggest a combination of both mcav and cpr's suggestions. Highlight the notes themselves instead of the area around them. Drop the jumpy marker and replace it with a smoothly moving, constant speed vertical marker. It's a commonly recog

The difference that stuck out to me the most was the lighting. Look at the transparent pipe at the top of the room or the shadows and specular highlights coming from the office on the left. At least for now, it seems that the graphics engin

The test results may not be completely definitive, but I think they they bring up an interesting point: now that Apple is getting what it wants (large-scale adoption), how is it going to handle relations with third-parties in a rapidly movi

Sybase isn't really in the enterprise DB space anymore. That part of the business still exists, but it's not really what they push, as far as I've been told. These days, they primarily do client-server middleware for mobile devices. Device

My honest thoughts? It doesn't matter. If 2009 has showed us anything, it's that the desktop OS is quickly becoming less and less of a factor, as far as consumers are concerned. Linux's strength has always been in the cloud and on "non-comp

Looking at the map for my city of residence (Atlanta) confirms a pattern I've observed in real life: the black community generally will support its own, seemingly regardless of the details of the performance. Look at the patterns for The So
