The real world works exactly like that. It's called System Requirements . If you want to use a piece of software, you look at the requirements and if you don't meet the requirements then you can't install it. All websites ha

No this is not an alternative, it will fail if the array is too large, as you will exceed the maximum number of arguments a function will accept (which is implementation defined). In general the spread operator should only be used for forwa

The problem is that Apple intentionally crippled the XR so that they could more easily upsell people to the XS. This punishes users who want to replace their iPhone 7, since Apple simply doesn't make a good phone in that price bracket

EASA is not going to approve the MAX for political expediency, the resulting scandal would end the existence of EASA. There is no tariff in the world that the US can apply that would convince the EU to commit such an act of self-harm.

Yes I think the better analogy is Fermat's Last Theorem. It didn't require billions of dollars, it just required one incredibly smart specialist grinding on the problem for years.

Why do you do it? I'm sorry if it sounds callous, I'm just curious really. I personally wouldn't be able to endure such a precarious and stressful situation.

Maybe in spherical cow land, but in the real world bicycles don't get very far without a human to maintain balance. It would fall over the first time it had to ride over a piece of debris on the road.

It does seem utterly counterintuitive that a vehicle that cannot balance by itself would be able to balance with the addition of a heavy rider elevating its center of gravity. Usually making an object top-heavy renders it even more unstable

The verb form "to duck" would be sublime. For instance "I ducked this guy I met".

This just isn't true. MCAS was added because it is a safety requirement that stick forces strictly increase. You don't want the thing to start stalling itself.

Fortunately Boeing is not going to allow FAA to unground it until EASA approves it too. Can you imagine if it were still banned from European skies but flying in the US? That would kill it for good.

Then you risk a stall. If MCAS is non-essential why not remove it completely? And if it's essential, then you need >2 sensors to ensure it can operate all the time.

Forces are forces and any upwards force from the engines can be counteracted by the control surfaces as long as they have enough authority. Boeing's entire problem is trying to do all this with only two flimsy sensors, and compounded b

To add to your note about dental fricatives. Arabic has separate consonants for /ð/ (ذ) and /z/ (ز). But it also has a consonant ظ that can be pronounced as either /ðˤ/ or /zˤ/. For me as an English s

You can do an experiment to find out. Try saying "spa" and "sba". In English plosives are not aspirated after an S. So if the only difference is aspiration then it should sound exactly the same.

Not really that strange. You can have one C file that #includes the separate files that make up the big translation unit. The compiler will give you an error if a declaration is out of order.

Certainly the compensation of nurses in the US is higher if measured in monetary terms. The UK has an entirely different attitude to pensions than the US, and you could write a book about it, so it is hard to make a direct comparison becaus

The point is that the MAX design flaw is so shallow. It uses a single sensor. If the sensor malfunctions during flight, then the software instructs the aircraft to dive into the ground. No right-minded person would ever design a flight co

Do you dream? Do you daydream? As far as I'm aware, most people don't see vivid imagery while awake. I can certainly imagine something but it is not a vivid image like reality, my mind's eye is ghostly and dreamlike.
