It's blindingly obvious. We've known that people with only subclinical symptoms (such as cough) spread this since very early on. People were told to cough into their elbow. We also know that almost nobody coughs into their elbo

SARS was 20 years ago. France has had 20 years to prepare for this but left it to the last minute. Of course the masks are going to the highest bidder, that's entirely predictable.

Sure you could have COVID-19 and then get hit by a car, but in almost all cases pneumonia from COVID-19 is the acute cause of death even if they have some other chronic health problems.

People such as Bill Gates have been talking about the risk of a global pandemic for years. This is a relatively light natural pandemic, a bioweapon would be much worse. Imagine how many FFP3 respirators you can buy for the cost of one aircr

What are you actually suggesting will happen? That there would be a major famine in Brazil ? That Brazilians would freeze to death in the harsh Brazilian winter? How are these people going to die exactly?

Is it reasonable? In Italy and Spain they have so many bodies that they are running out of space to put them. These people are not dying of economic effects.

I was going to point out that some deaths may be more likely to be included in the list because they died of COVID-19, but fuck, that does not seem to be the case. Genuinely terrifying.

And if the slot gets taken by a 20 year old what has been achieved? It's really down to governments to set up food delivery to affected groups. Altruism can't solve this problem.

I've noticed that often people who think fruit picking and other "undesirable" jobs should be done by locsl people, never express any interest in doing the aforementioned jobs themselves.

When the dust settles in this crisis, the scientific and medical communities need to have a discussion on how they communicate with the public. Countless times I see statements to the media along the lines of "There's no evidence

It's a good reason from Apple's perspective, they have all this "legacy" software not distributed through the App Store. A new processor means everything needs to be recompiled, meaning there's zero legacy software.
