Sells for profit to who? The "american taxpayer" isn't a person, the taxpayer is the economy. The taxpayer is every business and most individuals. Yes buybacks were dumb. It's done now. Just change the regs and make su

People forget that the original hackintoshes had to work around the hardware security module. Where there's a will there's a way.

No human being is unworthy of protection regardless of their job; for instance, supermarket workers also require protection. However this is a limited resource so of course those with the highest risk should get them first.

Masks decrease R0. You don't need everybody to wear them. You just need enough people to wear them for R0 to fall below 1, combined with all the other measures. It's academic because there aren't enough masks but it's

This is not a quality of healthcare issue. The interventions are relatively straightforward: oxygen, possibly antibiotics for secondary infection, and for a small percentage of patients, ventilation. This is a quantity of healthcare issue

The other choice is to implement strict social distancing for a few months, close the border and then require a 14 day isolation for international arrivals until a vaccine is available. This is what China is doing and it's working. Thi

This "herd immunity" strategy is just a sophisticated form of denial. UK announced it on Thursday and abandoned it the following Monday. It doesn't take into account the high hospitalisation rate and the fact that mortality i

It's a white lie by the media. If they told the truth to the public then they fear it would deprive hospitals of masks and cause worse outcomes for society.

No the risk/reward is fucked up. Buy at the start of a bull market not the midst of a bear market. In the context of the last recession buying in 2010-13 would have been ideal. Trying to find the bottom is simply gambling, investing is

The problem with their thinking is that isolation shouldn't mean you can't go outdoors. The virus is very unlikely to spread outdoors except with very close personal contact. What it does mean is that food should be delivered wh

Economically it doesn't make much difference. You can either isolate people now or later. The period of isolation will be roughly the same because you have to wait for the virus to exhaust its pool of hosts (in a household). Definitely

The important thing is that achy muscles don't spread disease (quite the reverse) but coughing does . So people with a recent bad cough should stay at home.

The virus can not pass through skin. Wear a mask, even a cheap fabric one if nothing else is available, to prevent yourself touching your face. Then wash your hands when you get to a bathroom.

This is stupid on two levels. The first is that obviously this guy is a crook, profiteering from a crisis. The second is that hand sanitizer isn't even necessary, soap and water is better, and people paying $7 for a bottle of hand sani

Part of the problem is that pretty much everybody in East Asia already owned at least one mask. In Europe pretty much nobody owned a mask prior to COVID-19. And masks have been sold out for weeks. If masks were easily available you'd s

It's rational. UK epidemic is not yet out of control. If you look at the region breakdown in UK the cases are very well geographically distributed, the highest concentration as of yesterday is Hertfordshire with only 13 cases, or Londo

The lockdown will happen when Conservative MPs (especially ministers) start getting hospitalised. Also I'm worried about the Queen, I don't know what the COVID-19 death rate for 93 year olds is but it's surely supremely high.

The transmission/storage size of shaders isn't important. Textures and 3D models dominate in any non trivial project. Kind of like dieting by trimming your toenails.

It’s probably a good thing honestly. Better that people panic buy now, when the disease is still rare, than later when it isn’t. There’s only so many toilet rolls that a person needs.

The NHS negotiates prices directly with drug companies. Usually this situation happens if a drug company refuses to offer a reasonable price. Yes this sucks for anybody who depends on such a drug, but there is no alternative.
