Criticism for Foundry aside, it's an extordinary effort to implement a mature self-hosted alternative, especially as FOSS implies it's going to be a side project for most if not all of its developers. Foundry's upside is that

This looks like a really awesome project. But, I can't understand if this is a subscription service or I can simply self-host. I don't want to sign up without having that information first.

OP asked for an analogue, not a comparison. I think it's silly to compare the two.

I consider myself an advocate of sequence diagrams (of all other UML diagrams), so I wonder why the article doesn't mention that this type of diagrams is meant to depict testable flows the software components. It's nice and all th

This illustrates the irony: a company, whose product collects information from the internet, requests that an article "removed" from the internet. (And honestly this is probably a mistake as it actually draws more attention to the

"you could have been born as" and the so-called "life-lottery" are a matter of philosophical and belief-system debate. The "you" (or: self) is a concept, a perception. I am just me, and couldn't have been

OK but we can mitigate these types of exploits (buffer overflow etc.) using memory-safe languages. Bad design is a universal orthogonal problem.

I am constantly finding myself deliberating whether I should or shouldn't use folders in my Obsidian vault. Most of the times folders feel artificial. I prefer tags nowadays as the single source. The times I separate to a folder is for

I would like to add about the text input: I expected that if I edit my text input e.g. put the caret (text cursor) in the beginning of the text, then the focus will change. This is not the case, even when typing.

Signal offers more to the table to prove it's secure and respects users privacy. Whatsapp/Meta claim so, but have no proof. As with your comment, without proof we can't be convinced.

Is 'btrfs' used only for 'btrbk'? Does it prevent data loss due to SSD failure, or just user errors? What are the recommended data storage file systems nowadays?

Step 3 is problematic. When you push change requests you also need to rebase i.e. put the fixing commits right after the affected commits. Otherwise, if you only rebase once the PR is complete, then you are likely to stumble upon conflicts

I wish that the lessons from UML would one day lead to the a less ambitious modeling toolkit. What we need are ways to _communicate_ our design, not automate it. While comments in code/tests, README.md etc. are a good way to explain th
