It looks like they have developed an ASIC for ML. The obvious use case would be mobile devices where performance/power and latency (versus going to the cloud) is a concern.

One thing that really stood out to me was that Ramunajan got lost in the traditional system of Academia which persists even now. There could have been (and may still be) so much talent out there that may never get a chance. I also really wi

Most things having to do with encryption are usually restricted. Strong cryptography has export restrictions so that could be an issue.

I saw this a few days in the DARPA SBIR/STTR release. My understanding is that they do not want to use a public blockchain, instead just utilize blockchain technology across DoD servers to make them less susceptible to a attack, while

Not necessarily. You wouldn't have to include the data itself in the transaction, just a hashed key. You then just set the data to expire at the requested time.

Actually if that is your use case, why not use a tablet? You can get an enterprise level of support on the hardware side, and run on linux, android, or windows.

Raspberry Pi isn't an enterprise/medical grade device in my opinion. I wouldn't want to have a SD card as primary storage either. Do you need to integrate a lot of sensors or have a lot of IO?

While there are obvious market valuation issues at play, I think this signals more about Intel and it's future strategy. The layoffs come shortly after their $16.7 billion acquisition of Altera was completed. Intel really missed out on

I find the Amazon GPU prices pretty high in the long run. The g2.2xlarge is around 3x slower than a GTX 980.

I would have liked more detail about the cluster. You would still need high speed interconnects (like Infiniband) between the nodes/machines so I don't think crowdsourcing would work. This could be interesting if ported to an FPGA

I would say no if you are specifically looking at VC. L3Cs are pretty uncommon and un-allowed in a majority of states. In structure they are like LLCs and thus cannot issue stock. As of now they also don't get any of the tax exemption

Interesting. I'm not yet married, but I've seen many friends struggle through this process. Recently, I've tried some similar services that connect businesses (in this case home remodeling/contracting) to consumers and I

What does the solution have to do with the problem? Torrents somewhat solve the problem of cost/bandwidth... but the rest is pretty much the same.

I can totally understand the software part and I think thats feasible with our current level of technology. The hardware seems like the biggest challenge. You would need very precise robotic arms and spray-brushes to actually accomplish app

It would be interesting to explore what kind of short positions are possible. The majority of student debt is federal, so you would probably be looking at the big private issuers like Nelnet and Sallie Mae/Navient ( https://w

$129k for this machine. In the keynote its interesting that they mentioned the product line being: "Tesla M40 for hyperscale, K80 for multi-app HPC, P100 for scales very high, and DGX-1 for the early adopters". The GP100/P100

Why? To me this feels like a lesser version of what would have been a Uniqlo Steve Jobs turtleneck. If it was for charity... a maybe, but really? On another note, I've found betabrand to be interesting for this kind of wear although sl

True. Some design elements still seem strange to me, but perhaps it was optimized for efficiency?. There is no front grille for instance. While there is no need for one on an electric car, the Tesla still has an indent for one.

The car looks comparable to a Honda CRZ or a Toyota Prius (or a Subaru BRZ). They should have gone with the small-sedan form factor, but I think they believe it will cannibalize Model S sales.
