Well, what would you expect from people who title themselves 'rubyists'? As opposed to 'programmers', 'web developers' or anything meaningful at all.

The fact that this has so many upvotes would seem to indicate that HN has acquired quite a few new readers since it was last posted, so they probably appreciate it too.

The article states that "Google's evangelists touted it as an open ecosystem " and seems to be taking the position that Google have not lived up to this claim. All Rubin's tweet indicates is that Android is open source .

While I can't explain Apple's inconsistency, here's a little bit of "evidence" (admittedly second-hand) from someone who I would not consider to be "uninformed": http://www.reddit.com/r/programming/comments/g0o01/xcode_4_i...

The creator states: This works in Audacity, and probably any other audio program that can import raw PCM data. I imported it as 22050hz 8-bit stereo audio in Adobe Audition, but it seemed to sound mostly the same in Audacity. All I did

If this is true then I wonder if buying a new Mac or a boxed copy of Mac OS entitles one to XCode 4 and all updates until XCode 5 (which will be years away)? That is certainly the case with Facetime and the 802.11n update.

I hope for the day when the Webkit Web Audio API[1] or something like it is widely available so we can build rich audio apps like Audiotool[2] without relying on Flash. [1] http://chromium.googlecode.com/svn/trunk/samples/audio/index... [

I'm still waiting to hear about a Mac version of the UDK that was to be shown at GDC[1]. Until Mac support is on the table, I'll be sticking with Unity. [1] http://twitter.com/MarkRein/status/42236794099466240#

For a static site that one can drag-and-drop to, I'd just use S3's new 'website' bucket configuration with CyberDuck as the S3 client (folder sync or drag-and-drop files).

People who want a COLOURFUL!!! case don't really care what the material is called. It's colourful! People who want the leather case care very much that it is leather. Similarly people buying the white Macbook don't care what 'polycarbonate'

Nintendo has been doing this kind of individualisation-through-colours for a long while in both their hand-helds[1] and consoles[2]. [1] http://www.dijitalfix.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2009/04/ga... [2] http://www.oldskool.tv/images/OL

I'm pretty sure there's room for a distinction between iPad-style media/web tablets and the simpler "reader" type ones like the Kindle and Nook.

I see describing something as a 'tabloid' to be setting it apart as sub-standard, below an acceptable level of quality, in the medium of print. As these standards are much lower (or non-existant) for blogs, it seems a harsh comparison.

One's expectations of any particular blog should be no more than that of a tabloid (at best), without sufficient prior evidence to the contrary.

If this interpretation of the rules correct, then by the same logic all carrier-locked-down Android phones would surely also be affected.

24-bit 192khz No-one will tell the difference between that and Redbook CD quality in a double blind test. For recording, and intermediary files, sure, knock yourself out. For the final master 16/44.1 is plenty.
