It's also just a lot easier for them to only support their own hardware configurations. Not having to adapt drivers for and test n-thousand configurations per component makes it faster, cheaper and easier for them to roll out support for ne

Of all logos for connectors that I have seen in a long while, this is the first where the logo actually evokes the imagery of the name/vice-versa.

I'm pretty sure the dock connector isn't going anywhere anytime soon, though I could see a Dock-to-Thunderbolt cable optionally replacing the Dock-to-USB cable.

I've got both my parents using it, mainly just as a file sharing service (drag file into dropbox, get public URL, paste in email). It's easier for them to understand than a file sharing site like Rapidshare.

I've been interested in doing collaborative music production in the browser for a while, and this looks to be a solution for the server and transport role. Where I see a problem is in building the client for creating music in the browser. C

I think their biggest challenge with going down the MeeGo route would be acquiring the kind of App ecosystem that iOS and Android have. I reckon their best bet would be to implement something like Alien Dalvik[1] to allow very easy porting

I think the key is to actually find out about what you're buying and get some word-of-mouth recommendations rather than relying on brand alone as a measure of quality. I think the pro-audio industry is small enough that nearly all big playe

I'm sure Qt still have a place on the desktop as a multiplatform GUI toolkit, but it does seem like the end of the road for Qt's mobile stuff. I think the best that could be hoped for it would be a role akin to MonoTouch, but I think the am

On iOS C++ is generally only used when you don't need to make much use of the Cocoa Touch APIs. If you do, you will be using the hybrid 'Objective-C++' language, and you will still need to use some Objective-C. See this Stackoverflow answer

The field of music production does seem to be a bit of a magnet for this skeuomorphic UI business. Having people coming from physical equipment is part of it, but there is an aesthetic factor as well, which relates to the kind of people mus

A while ago I submitted an article[1] about the YUV colour system, which takes into account human perception of brightness/luminance, and how it differs between colours. It's also an interesting colour system to work with, as the 'Y' channe

As I mentioned below, I find it disingenuous that people often use the term 'anti-semitic' when they mean 'anti-Israel', as if any judgement on the actions of the state of Israel automatically implies hate of Jewish people.

Touch controls would have to be pretty limited due to the lack of tactile feedback, but I could see some motion-based controls (though an ipod/iphone is a pretty expensive gadget to be swinging around).
