I would think that as CTO he would have at least 1% equity [1]. If that's the case then he has increased his net worth by about $20m. <also pure speculation> [1] http://www.askthevc.com/wp/archives/2007&

Yeah - it seems like Facebook thinks their stock is currently overvalued. Compare that to Warren Buffet's strategy of preferring to never use Berkshire stock in acquisitions but rather pay cash.

I am shattered right now. I was SO happy for Oculus VR, I wanted it to become big, I wanted it to become something truly special. You might be a bit premature with that comment. Mark Zuckerberg is not an idiot. He's probably smart en

Facebook is rapidly becoming a seriously dominant technology player. I used to think of them as a "flavour of the year" play, but I'm having to readjust that perspective pretty hard. It looks like they really are driving a lo

I think that's a standard Google thing. They announced Gmail (and the then insane 1GB free storage) on 1 April too.

I had serious WFIO case a few years ago. We were building a crypto solution on J2ME phones. The solution was days away from roll-out with our first big corporate client. Late on a Friday afternoon we were busy with final field testing - pay

The JVM is an awesome piece of tech - it still boggles my mind that runtime performance can get <2x native C speed for many applications. Java itself less so. It is just far too verbose. I found that I would get completely frustrated cod

I recently signed up for a really cool (and cheap) weekly organic produce delivery. What really struck me was that suddenly I was eating fruit that weren't all perfect. For example: the apples often have a blemish or even a worm. Perha

Yeah - I found that you had to be pretty good at moving off that build asap if you were scouted and the other player realised what you were up to.

I used that strategy a few times when it came out. I found it interesting to see how fast humans could responded and nullify the advantage. I think after 3-4 wins with the strategy I started getting countered effectively. So it took a few d

Perhaps because woman are the fastest "big" gain they can do? There are lots of woman in the world (far more than any minority group), yet very few doing startups. It's the biggest market inefficiency. edit: You could also ar

It seems pointless to encourage specific demographics that would not apply, to do so. I think you're missing the point that there could be reasons that females (or any demographic other than white American males) do not apply to YC t

I might be being naive, but I don't agree. We've decided to enter YC 3 days ago with an new idea. Surely the fact that we have not spent months preparing betas before the YC entry deadline doesn't effect our chances of buildi
