Ok, please: what language are people using when they want to create gnome software ? Or the trend of what people are looking at using, if you prefer. Edit: switched two words.

Funny, my smallish ARM Cortex-M / VGA DIY video console also works like that, with less RAM than needed for a framebuffer. There are framebuffer modes, but with less pixels/bpp than natively output by the video signal output.

I often cite this quote : Everyone knows that debugging is twice as hard as writing a program in the first place. So if you're as clever as you can be when you write it, how will you ever debug it? (B. Kernighan)

I'd say I trust more companies that already are earning money and open source something, it's less likely that they will bait and switch to a proprietary. Or some like mattermost or mariadb are clean about a possible business plan

Completely agree with all of this. Some say be hard with the code, soft with the coder. Also don't nitpick and be nice. Simple.

Id try with a led illuminating the back of a pcb ? Still, nice project. The code golf fewest components to display a face is tempting ...

Look up "search engine" on google and you find link to alternatives to google, and not google (of course you need to know what a search engine is and that it exists)

It's not necessarily tiny but it's optional (besides main() ). Linux kernel, baremetal embedded does not use this.

I wouldn't say baremetal is more outside of spec than MMU/ OS virtual memory is outside of spec.

Go (and some others, swift surely) cannot be used as a C replacement since they need a runtime.

In any case I definitely know nobody who ate more because they rode a bike. Some might get a bit more exercise or will get a bit less fat but I m firmly against the assumption that you'll et more if you ride in current wester societies

It depends what you can do with it. Downloading a full 5MB app just to be able to scroll down and show text and a few images can be seen at big. Why not use a webpage ?

Can't argue with 1. For 2 it's still an instruction set separate from uops so you might not be as sensitive to changes you still get a level of indirection. For 3 .. it depends. You might gain in power if you use the newer one mor

I agree. If they alone in the world can make good modems well they can charge a lot for it. 3% seems ok with the value I get from the the modem compared to the whole phone. If not the market will price them out. The issue is not with client

I'm not sure. If that were the case why wouldn't intel expose a native, better fit to uops instruction set in addition to the legacy, difficult to decode one and let the apps use the newer ones (or the subset of existing ones whic

Yes backward compatibility is not an option (lets avoid redoing python3 trauma ) and simply delegating coexistence of old and new features to implementation is a bit lazy. However documenting one way as the current one and other features as

Yeah languages are meant to be read even by beginners. I think a language like python shines by being small (in design) yet powerful (by capability). Having myriads of "nice for one use case" feature in the language is not the way

The "fake it till you make it" is as said borderline greyhat / negative : create false demand, use bots to fake real usage, spam forums, ... like many platforms did. While doing by hand what is not yet automated can be useful
