Not for apple fairplay DRM. :/ It's pretty obvious, you'll see how much the binary compresses to when you build on your machine vs what you download from the store and compare the sizes.

Go decompile using an optional or an array, or interfacing with an Obj-C lib, you'll be surprised how much ASM is generated. You'll also be surprised how much stuff is reduced in swift 4. Swift is still in beta, lots of low hangi

That same app written in 17kloc of objective c code would be significantly smaller. The reason why it's small is because it just doesn't have a lot of code. Most these fat apps have already done all the other easy crap specified

Swift is a big part of the app binary size bloat. It creates about 3-4x the amount of binary for about the same lines of code count as objective-c. Generic specialization happens everywhere in swift and using optionals takes a lot more AS

What a luxury to have an app that is only 15kloc. That is why it's small. If he had a 20kloc objective-c app, how much smaller would of it been ;)

Not really. You'll notice a pattern in most tech bigcos where they move from dynamic lang X to a statically typed language that can multithread properly. A few examples: Ruby on rails to java (twitter). Java & c++ (google). Java

I think in practice most of the market don't care about using 30+ year old lenses. And if your using manual only lenses, you have many options on which body you want to use.

The threading story isn't great. It's not statically typed, which can make working on a large codebase with more people more painful. It also forces you to write more unit testing code coverage to make up for the lack of a stati

It's probably the same kind of calculation as fix vs. buy new. If it costs you $50 to just buy a new one or $150 to hire a repairman, you'll just buy a new one.

For Canadians it's the status quo. I was looking for my first job out of college, offers in Canada were 1/2 what they were in Seattle. Cost of living was lower than Vancouver. A TN visa was a low barrier. This story repeats over
