I'm curious as to what this will look like with using e-scooter rentals to replace some of the shorter rides.

The sidewalk should be at least another car's width larger. That would help a tad bit with the issue, though the general societal problem of caring for your neighbor wouldn't be solved.

This could be fixed if SF voted to build more bike lanes to replace existing regular lanes. Removing a small number of regular lanes would nip the induced demand issue fairly quickly.

Strongly agree with this! The problem for SF is that it also needs buy in from the rest of the Bay Area to continually upgrade mass transit into the city. If CalTrain had higher throughput to take more cars off the road, then replacing car

I am very strongly with you here. Why can’t we get an exact cost upfront before Abby services are rendered? A doctor can make orders and should be able to get the exact cost to you before submitting them. These prices should all be public a

New york city, the chicago core (probably not greater chicagoland), SF, LA, Portland, Seattle proper would all be excellent candidates. An e-bike can go 20 miles comfortably which means you could take it to work, lock it up and charge at wo

Totally fair! They're taking off in Europe right now which will help set the tone for how cities can accommodate these bikes. I think incidents like shutting down the L line in New York will help propel e-bikes/scooters forward mu

That's a problem being solved already in Scandinavian countries. It just takes education and continually improving infrastructure. The more bikers that are on the road, the safer everyone feels riding a bike, which means more bikers on

I think you may underestimate the impact e-bikes are going to have on major (non-car centric) cities. They'll likely reshape cities significantly as infrastructure gets improved for biking. You can get significant traffic density impro

If you start threatening people with your weapons, you should have them confiscated, or rather more likely to have them confiscated. This is one of the few instances where this could have been completely prevented.

I think you could do this by pushing to users who tend to look for new artists already. There's a large set of folks that love to discover new music, and actively do so, and adding one or two new artists to promote here would be an eas

I just want to say, I love this tool. It's extremely fast, easy to use and is one of the most important tools in my code exploration toolbox. Thank you for all of your hard work on this project as well as the other contributors too.

This is amazing! Brings up fond memories of my attempts at building a winamp clone in assembly. You really learn to love higher level abstractions when you write that much assembly by hand...

I also wouldn't be surprised if an external vendor will build LTS releases for a fee. That's a pretty common and successful model that would solve this problem easily.

A nice mitigation technique is for everyone to bring their own dice, put them into a hat and require random selection of two of them per turn. Of course if you suspect your friends are cheating you have bigger problems.

I imagine city driving in start/stop traffic to be a perfect use case for EVs. Regenerative braking will recoup lots of battery through out the day, and you don't lose much to drag at highway speeds.

I think you might be a bit off here on the extent to which the average driver will be needing gasoline. Tesla's have less than 10% battery degradation after 8 years so far. What will happen is people will buy an electric car as a secon

I'm 90% sure this is because Qualcomm won't give out the source to various drivers. Instead you get a binary blob to deal with which makes the interface with other parts of the system untenable over time.

I've found Google Inbox to be amazing for my private email. Important stuff gets a notification, unimportant stuff can get triaged as I see fit and snoozed for later. Now I wish I had snoozing for my text messages...
