I'm not convinced that's the case. I think smoother traffic flow could make a significantly larger impact than we think. Traffic jams will cease to exist if the flow is consistent.

We do allow HTML5 video on Firefox for Windows. On Mac, we disallow it. We feature detect everything but have been prioritizing Flash at the moment due to issues with Chrome and HTML5 video.

I'm one of the developers on the video player used on that page. Great work guys! Edit: I should add in, the player is primarily Javascript with a small rendering engine for Flash fallback. Even in the Flash case, everything is control

This does happen partially with escape analysis within a function. Objects/primitives could be allocated on the stack instead. I totally agree that this should be an area that could be explored more in depth.

Why can't you just avoid sites that use advertising? How is it fair to companies to give you free content without having to pay for it. If you find a site has annoying advertising then stop browsing it and find an alternative. Vote wit

This isn't a problem on server side javascript where packages can have different versions of the same dependency. This may not be a problem on client side javascript if your dependencies don't export to the global object.
