Since most browsers have spell check built-in, I'd figure they wouldn't need to add that.

I'm another one who writes for a living and writes 100% in Markdown, then convert to HTML for Markdown. I just moved my own site to Kirby so I could publish with straight Markdown files. I know we're far from the only ones that do that.

Actually, I bought Windows 7 and Office 2010 directly from the Microsoft Store online, and downloaded it directly back when it first came out.

The original article link, from the author's own blog: http://mollyrocket.com/casey/index.html (happens to be much more readable there, too)

Really interesting to see that the states weren't as split in most elections pre-Bush Sr.

For me, my iPad 1 still makes a plenty good Instapaper/Kindle/email/writing/basic web/casual gaming device, and my only major hope is that developers like Marco don't drop iOS 5 support way too quick for their apps.

I use a Alcatel USB 3G adaptor for connectivity on my MacBook Air. If there had been an option to add a built-in data solution, I would have upgraded in a heartbeat if it was sim-unlocked. One nice thing: in Thailand, I pay ~$25/month for a

I just purchased a new ~$20k Toyota in Thailand, and its my first vehicle purchase. I'm seriously hoping electric is in my price range here in, say, a decade when I plan to want a new car...

I work everywhere with my MacBook Air 13" (from the bus, on benches in parks and malls, in my inlaws-to-be's living room, at restaurants), and with a 3G aircard, it's great. Though I did the same with my iPad 1, and it was mostly great too,

It's not just Canada ... it's most of the world. I live in Thailand, and can't use most of these services. Only saving factor is that I'm American, and have a US bank and address, so I can use some US services that way (iTunes, Amazon Payme

I'm enjoying seeing all the Bangkok locations mentioned on HN. We should have a Bangkok HN meetup sometime!

Actually, the new Basecamp doesn't have a free tier now. Cheapest is $20/month. But, for teams I manage, we've found Basecamp was actually cheaper than the competition because every tier has unlimited users. That alone makes it cheaper than

I think it's better in most of the world than the US. It's almost considered classy in Thailand, and to me, it seems to taste better, too.

Oh interesting. The desktop I was referring to has a 4 year old Celeron at 1.9Ghz, so possibly its older architecture makes it more different, but not sure.

Afraid a Celeron isn't very competitive with an i5, even at the same speed. At least not comparing to similarly clocked computers running here. A dual-core Celeron based PC here is significantly slower than a similarly clocked i5 Mac Mini.

He did say that everyone should learn some basic concepts of programming, which I think we could all agree with. Perhaps everyone shouldn't know how to create the next Gmail, but surely there's an advantage to us all knowing how for loops
