I am reasonably worried about being mugged at this point. The FBI has already tried to entrap me less than a year ago. In fact, that's why I published this blog post. To protect myself.

I am currently in a state of shock and rage. I am contacting helpful friends, documenting every shred of detail for my own protection, and mirroring evidence to multiple servers in order to prevent it from being erased. Helpful advice is mo

Hello, I left for NYC for five days. Since I develop sensitive cryptography software, I do not store anything sensitive on my desktop, only on my laptop, which is kept with me at all times (even when going on dates and such.) It was my desk

I would appreciate it if Silent Circle did not repeatedly claim to the media that the code has already been openly released and reviewed when it hasn't been.

As the person behind the Open Letter to Skype, I have also written copiously about how dangerous Silent Circle is to cryptography software development. Silent Circle has repeatedly told untruths in the media regarding the open source nature

If you're someone who reads Hacker News then sure, you already know better than to rely on a closed platform. But many in Syria don't.

Oh absolutely. As Schneier noted in that blog post, we did solve the issues that were presented to us, switched to a signed browser plugin, OTR, got a full audit, and so on. But other than the handful of awesome and helpful critique, man

Let me get this straight. You've hired a Zen master so that your team can encourage people to meditate in order not to lose the money they've gambled? You seriously think you can inspire true meditation in someone by making them worry about

I should probably mention that this guy has been following Appelbaum around the Internet for literally years, commenting like this on every post about him that he can find. He's @sneakatdatavibe from Twitter, IIRC.

Author here. Let me ask you something: Have you checked if SSLv2 connections are actually dropped? The point of my article isn't SSLv2, it's privacy concerns. Also, I did actually check and disabling SmartScreen doesn't seem to be offered d

The issue is less about applications shipping with the iPhone doing this and more about Apple stating that IVs are "optional," prompting many non-crypto-savvy developers to ignore IVs completely, thus resulting in highly insecure AES implem
