Is the author debating a strawman or something? Actually, they just seem confused. At the start, they state asset price increase is not inflation, then, at the end, agree that there is some inflation going on in the real estate space. So th

I think this comes down to what you think biases are and what you think should be optimised. Consider the gender imbalance in tech jobs. Let's say that is because more men pursue tech degrees than women and this is because the field is

Actors on the long side can also be (and sometimes are) fraudulent, so this is not an argument against short selling.

Fyi, "buy side" has a specific meaning and it refers to investment funds, pension funds, family offices etc. By contrast, the "sell side" are brokers and investment banks.

Short selling is not gaming the market and short sellers are an essential part of a well functioning stock market.

A historical good Sharpe is usually a prerequisite, but not a guarantee of having good live performance. I'm sure you're aware of overfitting backtestes and it sounds like that's what you were doing.

I'm not convinced having a reward function isn't suffering in a sense. But then again, I subscribe to the idea of philosophical zombies. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Philosophical_zombie

I'm confident when I say that Stadia/GFN will never be good enough for anything that you want to play competitively. For example, I wouldn't use it to play CS, LoL, DotA or any other competitive game where reflexes matter. Ho

I last tried Stadia in early Dec (on the gigabit connection in the UK). Still too laggy to the point where it significantly affected gameplay and I gave up after a while. Wasn't aware of the YT thing.

From my experience no: * The input lag is _still_ noticeable. I've tried this from multiple locations on various devices, all with extremely good internet (one of them was in the UK with gigabit internet) and the lag was always there.

Out of all the things to complain about the EU, arguing that it is killing cheese diversity is probably one of the stranger ones I've seen. 1. It's not clear that's happening because of EU action. 2. It's not clear that&

Maybe I'm misinterpreting your question, but isn't the answer clearly yes? Isn't reflecting the will of the government what governments should do? The only arguments against it that I can see all rely on some sort of fetishiz

The ideal answer is, clearly, closer to continuous voting rather than voting a single time. Circumstances change all the time, so voting a single time makes no sense. Arguably, that's why certain issues should be decided with a superma

I probabl would be down to paying that for Facebook, especially considering the product would be massively better than their current offering. No ads + optimising for platform utility instead of eyeball time would do wonders for Facebook.
