Here in France, lots of people don't do the difference between the taxes that go to the government, and the social security deductions. Calling the latter "taxes" is wrong. Most of it pays for your retirement and your health

The X compact is unofficially water resistant (diving in the atlantic wasn't a problem for mine), so I don't see how it is a downgrade in many ways (with the assumption that it traded style for case resistance).
