The recent yellow vest protests in France are interesting for your focus. I believe most of it is driven not by the not-so-high petrol price, but by combination of two facts in France : Real estate is very expensive in cities, more and more

How about Paris-Bordeaux (brand new), Paris-Strasbourg, Paris-Lille, Paris-London, Paris-Rennes ? Ok, France is very centralized but Paris-Marseille is far from being an exception.

Only the CO2. Does not include the rest of the radiative forcing (mainly water vapour). So the 2% is not a measure of climate change impact. It's a misleading fact.

People are talking about it in France too. I've read the equivalent term "avionte" (or "avihonte") but not heard it yet. In the currently debated "Law for mobility", two amendments by members of the parli

Are methane or black carbon converted to CO2 equivalents and included in that metric ? If not, why aren't they published along with the CO2 curve ?

Thanks for pointing this out. As for the temperature, the rise is already really bad right now, it didn't change the mind of the minority flying...

Correct me if I'm wrong, but planes look like a bad target for this fuel substitute : for 1 kg of CO2 emitted, estimates give a ~2 (or worse, 2.7 - 4) factor of radiative forcing (the potential for climate warming), due to the water va

Solar panels or wind turbines do emit CO2 (e.g. construction, maintenance). Is the amount of CO2 emitted per kWh negligible compared to what would be captured from the air ? What's the ratio ?

The impact of not changing your phone is < 100kg of CO2 eq. It's of course a good thing to do, but it won't replace doing the other more important changes you've listed.

Sorry, I should have noted that for the moment it is only a simplified implementation of the latest laws. Bugs arise when you're forced to integrate rules that change over time.

A substantial part of the french social and tax system is being coded as free software. One of the teams writes the source code in YAML. It's not a programming language, but rather a specification for calculable parts of the law. A JS
