I'm enjoying doing so with https://cartes.app . Web-only though. Building apps would be crazily expensive.

This is why privacy must be enforced by states, their laws and a powerful public enforcement agency. You cannot expect people to technically protect themselves from tracking. (you can invite them to not use abusing services though)

Thanks for your contributions to Comaps. As the main developer of cartes.app, I'm happy to see libre traction in the world of maps. Hope to make the bridge soon with i18n of cartes.app. I also use LLMs to work on it. Mistral, mostly.

What I'm interested with is taking Panoramax pictures (a free StreetView alternative) and recreate 3D navigable scenes from them.

I have no major problem with Next running on Dokploy. I don't use lots of its functionnalities, just some SPA routes and dôme RSC routes. That's fine. It works fine.

Thanks a lot for this article. As a 10-year experience Web dev, we need this to shake our beliefs. The title is bad, though. Almost didn't read it. CSS will not render maps ;)

Interesting. Just one hour ago, I was removing the Amazon & co links that Firefox imposes to users on the home page. I was recommending Firefox to my friend to avoid a weather app's ads. Turns out he got ads on Firefox too. Removin

There's a DB on the server. It's just storing HTML with all its views instead of storing JSON, an extract of the information that is allowed to change...

Am I the only one that does not understand what the author wants to explain ? Do we need a story with illustration to understand how a new framework works ? What's the plain markdown 2 to 3 paragraph that explains the concept ? Edit :

The Web services of https://cartes.app run on Dokploy. Nextjs website deployed here to avoid crazy Vercel and netlify pricing. Uptime kuma and Umami deployed in 2 minutes. Be sure to check disk space. Activate the Docker auto-cl

It's hard to count but my guess is that in France, the French government is the main creator of open-source software in France. Contribution to existing projects lacks behind, but it's getting better.

I wonder if this could help Photon, the open source ElasticSearch/OpenSearch search engine for OSM data. It's a mini-revolution in the OSM world, where most apps have a bad search experience where typos aren't handled. https
