Why would it be more unlikely, than the religious women sleeping with an atheist? (If I may add, both scenarios are fairly common even now, and we're not even facing extinction yet)

How about the option that the atheists turn to religion? That would be a far more likely option in the given situation. If it comes to rape being the only option, it'd probably better for humanity to die out. However, I do agree that this q

I'd say, whichever you're most comfortable with, but it also depends a lot on your startup. Apache is a good general purpose web server, the others are a bit more specialized. Personally, I use nginx, because I do not need the extra stuff a

Depends on what I get stuck on, and how bad it is. Taking a break to clear one's head can help a lot. I also found that postponing the problem, and doing something completely unrelated allows my subconciousness to dream up an idea. If the s

While I understand the frustration that gave birth to this rant, I would like to note that all this has nothing to do with squid per-se. First of all, squid has nothing to do with ssh, irc or smtp - that's one's firewall, not the proxy. As

I do want to work offline, so, no, haven't tried, didn't even consider. What advantage would having the whole home up on evernote/dropbox/whatever over having only select parts of it there?

I put these files in revision control aswell. But in case I wouldn't be able to, I'd postfix it with a timestamp: product-demo-20100922-1050.ppt If that's too verbose, then product-demo-20100922-N.ppt, where N is an arbitrary, but increasin

I'm a big fan of full disclosure - I'd do that. I would advise against selling your findings, in the long run, that would only make facebook worse than it already is. So, either full disclosure, or tell facebook and give them a few days, I'

I don't have much experience with PHP or anything related, but when I was in similar shoes (coming from perl, though), I tried Django, and it was very very easy. From basically zero Django knowledge, and only very little python, I had a usa

I'm learning Haskell, because I've heard good things about it, and it sounds like fun. I already know most of the better known languages, at least on a read level, so I figured I'll learn something else, for fun.

I have used such software - though, it didn't affect me, since I wasn't on neither macos nor windows. As long as it's a request, and not an additional restriction on the GPL license, it's legal. Since it's free software, one can hack it out

I found it hilarious how they outruled everything but Java on slide 6, without any proof why the others would be inferior. I also found it quite funny how the slides dissed Javascript just a few pages later, only to come back to it a few pa

Been using it myself since... around 0.2 or so, very satisfied. The upgrades were painless too, which was a nice surprise - I expected a few hickups during the earlier releases, but found none.

I would definitely go with rails 3.0. Most of the plugins you will want for a new project, while being new to rails, will be available in rails 3.0. There's quite a few of good stuff in 3.0 that makes it a lot easier for new people to get s

I think I was quite clear that there is a sarcasm, but oh well. I responded to a vague comment which asserted that Django is "years behind", without any substantial proof, apart from "it lacks quality and maturity". Compared to that, I gave

What advantage would your system have over any of the existing CMS systems? There's a dozen of good, well-established CMS systems out there (CMS made simple, Drupal, e107, Joomla!, Typo, Plone, and so on and so forth)...
