Sorry I don't have a link, but I remember reading that while it is wonderful to be acquired by Google, it was a considerable challenge to make your product run on Google's infrastructure. How many times have we seen a product change dramati

On some level Google was, for me, a poor man's internet. My initial use of it for months was for the cached pages which would actually load on my terrible Packard Bell with dial-up in 2000.

Does this mean that typical cable (e.g. comcast) or fiber (e.g. FiOS) networks have more bandwidth than the internet ? Or is this just a multicast vs unicast thing?

IMing or twittering on iPhone is not the same as watching a TV program simultaneously with millions of other people. There is something here with the simultaneous viewing concept, or maybe we can call it collective experience. There is so

So losing 'utter dominance' is the same as 'lost'? I agree that it takes time for giants to fall, but I don't really believe the race is anywhere near over. That said I would bet on Netflix or Amazon (or even Microsoft) to give us the next

Don't know about the state of CA, but the city of SF banned water bottles and water coolers (favoring tap water) within city government buildings. Makes sense plus SF water is great.

Mint is lightweight and has a nicer UI, but Yodlee has more features and can track more types of accounts. I have both set up and find myself using Mint more often.

Is there ever really a "too late"? Shouldn't Google push for dominance as far as it possibly can? Isn't it some other entity's role to stop them?

Exactly. A Toyota transmission, while a unique overall design, contains commodity parts from a variety of manufacturers. Tesla essentially invented a new transmission (among other things) and that will require a whole new supply chain. Tesl

Obama's most prominent word is "nation." Perhaps with the added benefit of hindsight, we can attribute more specific meaning to "nation" as we do with the terms highlighted in the previous inaugural addresses.
