I believe 1911 (handgun) slides and frames still have to be hand fit to one another. Though there is a company claiming tight enough tolerances that theirs don’t. I have two identical 1911, but have not tried it. I wonder how original Col

I miss bathroom humor scribbled on the wall, such as: What are you laughing at? The joke is in your hand.

I’m the same height. Do you mean elevation or azimuth visibility? My Leaf is awesome for elevation as I’m not staring into the visor like I am with all other vehicles. In the Leaf, I’m looking several inches below the visor.

This was all known during the Clinton administration. Lot of good it did then.

ADI has gone down hill. For example, the HMC6300 datasheet is crap, having wrong register values, and lacking the interfacing details. Hittite, prior to ADI, would have never had a poor data sheet like that. The ADI web site also stinks,

Why is it that it's always a one-way street WRT to gun laws? True compromise would be red-flag laws or background checks, in exchange for national CCW, or taking suppressors and short barreled rifles off the NFA list.

Our elementary school provides iPads in all grades, taking them home starting in 3rd. I was horrified to see my 5th grader zooming into math worksheets and using her finger to work out the problems between the text. We put a stop to that

I think it was the issue of taking the SAT at 12, but turning 13 before the program. I don’t recall, it was almost 40 years ago. I just know my mother was pissed.

I did the same for JHU, and got good enough scores to get into their program. They wouldn’t let me in because I missed the age cutoff by 1 month. Screw JHU.

I majored in EE, and can say it was only the non-STEM courses that were worthless. There is no way I’d gain the same amount of knowledge without attending college.

I wonder what’s the graduation rate for medical school? You’d think it should be difficult enough to flunk out 2/3 of the students (like engineering), but I’m guessing that is not the case.

My employer dropped dental insurance a few years ago. They never gave me a pay bump to compensate. Now I spend $1,600/year on cleanings for a family of 4. At least it is out of my HSA, so pre-tax.

Couldn’t agree more. Though this was 1990, the professor for the calc classes could care less if you had a calculator, as it “won’t be of any use”. Even in engineering and physics courses, you had better show all your work. If a numerical

Back when I was in calc, you actually had to show your work, so a calculator was pointless.

What internal turmoil? Trump? He will be gone in 1-5 years, then it is another political cycle. Nothing unusual. China has had 1 party (communist) rule for 70 years?

Kickstarter is not a damned tech company. This whole stinking “tech” economy can’t crash fast enough. A 2000’ish reset is needed to get rid of the dogfood.coms.

If you look at plasma attenuation of a reentry body, it’s about 30 dB. Even a thin sheet of foil or perforated screen is way more (> 100 dB). They just need to hook an antenna to a spectrum analyzer (with low noise path) and measure the

It's got a little more range than an older Leaf with the ~25 kWh pack, and significantly cheaper for the new price. Then again, you can get a lightly used Leaf for under $10k. I bought a 2015, in 2017, with 19k miles for $8,500. You
