I'm not sure that would work. If that were the case, then anyone who did not login between when the decision to go 16 characters was made and today would have to login one time with their full password so that they could confirm that you kn

But that definitely is not what happened here, right? Because they are letting you sign in with the first 16 characters of your password, it means that they must have access to plaintext of your old password. OP was unable to login with

This is so profoundly true. It's all just feeds. RSS could have been implemented as mailing lists, too. Maybe we should use mailing lists to build the next big decentralized social network instead of this infrastructure.

An important distinction between this and Google's sponsored search results in that it is happening in typeahead completion instead of on a results page. As far as I know, google does not put sponsored results in its completion suggestions

Another reason might be that they pipe analog audio out of it? I don't know much about hardware, would it have been possible to use the standard micro USB connector and still provide those features? From the article: > the adapter will

Is Samsung making their own cores? The news in the article is that Apple is making their own cores now, they've been making their own silicon for the last few revisions, right?

I believe that the Google apps on Android are good, but my experience with Google apps on iOS have been mostly bad. Have there been good ones?

Seems like a good solution to the problem. Is this not a common conflict when working on iOS? Seems like the only long term solution would be a dependency manager a la ruby's bundler.

Seems a bit dangerous to be using the automatic third level domain of github in this way. This is not the first time I've thought a project was endorsed by github when it was not.

This is a good idea, and something that I think would be interesting beyond seeing just how people solved katas, but I think that it would be much much better if you had the transition between commits happen in place instead of sliding in.

How could the designers of Photoshop actually apply this criticism? This is what has always bothered me about gameification, even the "good" kind of gameification this article espouses. When I launch Photoshop, I already have a goal in mind

For what it's worth, the "different retail chain" isn't as different as you might think. Apple only sells 15% of all iPhones in the US directly. Most of them are bought through cell providers and Best Buy. http://allthingsd.com/20120323/be

Is Dropbox just screwed on pricing vs. Google Drive? Their help docs say they still rely on S3 for storing all user data: https://www.dropbox.com/help/7 They can't price lower than what Amazon is giving them, no?
