Lots of people do exactly that (treat it like a dumb data store) and are wildly successful. Do what you want, but don't say other people shouldn't do it a different way which has been proven to work.

It may be that its easier for people to define the desired result set, then tweak the query until it gives them what they want.

I'm very interested in your learnings. I've worked on enterprise collaboration software before, and came to the conclusions that the users will favour using the simplest thing for the task in hand (email or excel) no matter what S

if you aren't stopping-the-world during upgrade, you need to ensure the old code and the new code both execute happily against the new schema. its even worse if you want to be able to rollback.

A useful term here is 'unit of deployment' I.e. a chunk of software that can be upgraded and redeployed on its own (implying versioned communication with other units and data storage).

Cloud storage was just used so I didn't have to manage backups myself. I absolutely didn't separate command and query - the commands themselves are actions which execute against the domain model, and that domain is used to build r

I built an CRM/CMS application where every single controller action call is event sourced. The whole application lives in memory as a single object aggregate, which gets rebuilt on startup. I started off with writing json to the file s

TDD will leave you with a load of tests which prevent you from changing the code. BDD on the other hand should leave you with a suite that isn't coupled to a specific implementation. Part of the information contained in a test is the i

There's only one rule: 1. Don't write fast running behavioural tests that verify the software is working as required. With fast running tests I can maintain any old crap. Well, technically speaking I can rewrite it, but no-one wil

BDD got it right. Write your tests to prove the features are working, not to prove that the code written to implement the features does what it does.
