My (London) mortgage is up for renewal next month. Would it be a good idea to free up some equity while valuations are high in order to invest in the next year or two?

Many, many businesses hire dedicated people for that (Product Owners/BAs etc.) and have a budget to hire programmers to make more Java code.

I'm not saying it would have been a good business decision for Twitter, but it would have been pretty neat for developers and users.

Suppose twitter had become a giant json firehose, and you could listen to it and, for example, build a jobs listings website from the jobadvert microformatted tweets. It would end up full of fake job spam, and the listeners might want quali

I disagree that anyone else could re-implement it. Once you have a critical mass of listeners, it would become the first port of call for any message you wanted to distribute. As for policing, I think that would probably be where the money

They built it. They had an experimental project called 'annotations' where you could attach 1k of json to each tweet, like a DIY microformat. I got onto the beta and created a prototype twitter client which you could attach mini &

So what this is, is an IOS hypermedia (AKA true REST) client, for consuming APIs serving a custom (as opposed to generic) hypermedia format. The format itself is designed for a particular problem domain, namely outputting mobile-application

I'll take a look when I get a chance - from a glance at the Phoenix docs looks it like a railsy MVC framework though? The pattern I'm talking about is dicussed here: https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=2945513

Building (certain) applications using in-memory persistent objects instead of using a stateless web app + database server, somewhat similar to a multiplayer game. Made programming fun again. Don't seem to get to use it at client sites

10x code is the code you didn't write because you knew how to solve a problem simply (usually by knowing about the existence of available tools and approaches, instead of building things from scratch),

Very cool! Lots of questions! Could this be used for inverse kinematics? Would this approach work in 3d? Could you use it for reverse model binding with DOM elements?

I wonder how hard it would be to game by taking out lots of insurance and then delaying the flight deliberately. I guess that scam works because the cost of a delay is subjective.

The dream is that your client can dynamically update itself or seek out ways to process new, incomprehensible things* that it encounters while traversing a rest request (see "Code-on-demand in REST literature). If you think this is pos

First and foremost an API which services it's clients need well is a good API. There are many people arguing things that aren't REST (e.g. pretty urls, media type based versioning) in the name of REST, and there are also (fewer)

There's nothing to stop someone putting resources on an api which do the one thing a client needs to do. And what you describe nothing to do with REST, it's to do with overly fine-grained API design, without taking your users into

How your URLs read (and if you PUT or POST) is entirely unimportant if you are doing hypermedia/HATEAOS/REST as Fielding envisages it ( http://roy.gbiv.com/untangled/2008/rest-apis-must-be-hyperte... ). &q
