Right, you can cache that query. That doesn't mean that you can cache "two bunnies playing in the snow r/aww reddit".

I think you mean "15% seems too high". Any easy way to think about this is the following: even if search the entire internet you will almost never see the same sentence twice, assuming it's has a certain number of words. Ther

Can you name a single compelling use case for Ethereum, Polkadot or Cardano?

That number ("1/4 woman and 1/7 men") seemed unlikely high to me. I looked at the source that was cited on the ncadv.org page. Maybe I'm misreading it, but it doesn't seem to support that. According to table 11

I feel like there are some misunderstandings in this thread. Let me summarize my understanding: Safari has effectively disabled third party cookies. Nothing broke. Chrome has announced that they will do the same in 2022. However, unlike App

Do you have any interesting anecdotes from your time at amazon?

It seems like amazon was started around the same time as lycos, yahoo, altavista. Pets.com was started 3 years later.

I didn't know about that. It seems like there is much less public attention on what these companies are doing compared to tech companies.

Maybe it could be a parawork relationship instead of parasocial, like sponsors voting on new features and faster response to issues.

I don't understand the cynical takes in the comments. Something like this seems like the least worst option. We wouldn't want the government telling private companies how to moderate their websites, but we also wouldn't want

DeepL (which is sometimes better than Google) returns almost the same translation: This lake looks pretty fishy to me. Let's go fishing for fun. Maybe the language that the book uses is dated making those machine translation systems tr

That's crazy, according to the reviews the first 90 pages are also just usenet conversations where people are making fun of the author who apparently just copy-pasted the conversations into the book.

A very long time ago App engine went out of beta and there was a price hike leaving many scrambling. App engine was in beta so long that many people didn’t think that label meant anything.

Then AdWords would draw the short end of the stick because their product would become commoditized. Google would still hold the same market power as before. Ad quality might go down because there are multiple providers. Overall I don't

I don't understand this. Isn't it obviously slower if you redraw every window in every frame instead of just redrawing what changed?

The Windows API asks the application to redraw the window on certain events (e.g. resize).

I'm having a hard time making sense of this page. Why is this comparing fastest implementation with slowest implementation? Why is the metric busy time/least busy? Why is C++ so much better than C?

In my mind the reputation of Facebook is that it's more employee friendly and customer hostile, but Apple is more employee hostile (thinking about Steve Jobs stories) and customer friendly.
