I feel you! I had an ASP.NET Core Web API using a SQLite file for data storage. It was working exceptionally fine in development. When we released it, as soon as more than 10 users were throwing request upon it, it got so deadly slow. Obvio

Isn't this like WhatsApp, Teams, Skype and others giving you instant previews of URLs when sending them around? I really hate this feature. Impossible to share 'single hit' URLs as they'll be called already when you wa

Funny while reading your text I wanted to write you about the Zenfone 9 and then you just mention it. I'm a heavy Apple / iPhone user so probably won't switch. But the specs and especially the backpack mount triggered my in

Nice, I'll definitely visit this one with my kids. Strange I didn't hear about this one as a Swiss living about an hour away.

I recommend you to also watch Opération Béton - a documentary about the construction of the Grande Dixence concrete dam by JLG preceding his film work and a testimony.

Consider the Dell XPS15. It's a great laptop with a great display, keyboard and performance. I still have Macs at home, but for business work and development the XPS15 is fantastic.

I thought you were making a joke, but it's just a summary.

That would be Visual Studio Code then. Runs just fine on Linux, yes.

Great post. It could be 'care', I call that 'Berufsstolz' in German. Like professional pride. Not everyone has it, but those that do, they sure are more successful inside and outside the company and are (in general) a pl

Yeah OK I mentally skipped this point. But still astonished to hear that the Covid vaccine is still a requirement in all jobs in Italy.

Why is this downvoted? I'm not Italian but know some expats and they do indeed have family members that stopped legally working because they didn't want the Covid vaccine.

I love my MBA M1. It's the best computer I ever owned. Super fast for the kind of stuff I need it for. The battery seems to be always charged and it is immediately available when opening the lid. And it doesn't even have a fan. Be

You wrote "and were very slow". And is it faster now? Asking because Rosetta seems to be very fast.

It's like a well known friend reporting that Pornhub translates porn video titles to silly German titles, even though his system and browser run in English.

So the Googlers in Zurich Switzerland should get a Swiss German version. I'm sure they'd fix that soon enough.

I'm in a similar boat as you, Switzerland is multi language (German, French and Italian) and quite a few users (including myself) use English as system language. Luckily by now you can change the language of iOS applications in the s

Regarding Excel: Watch out with multi language setups! I was working with an English iPhone, an English Windows PC and a Swiss German Mac on an Excel file stored on One Drive. Editing sometimes in Excel and sometimes in Excel Online. Resul

Swiss German here. Je suis bilingue. My OS is set to English with a Swiss German keyboard layout. This works fine everywhere. Except: The Microsoft Store app just keeps on running in French with English content. No German to be found. It

I second the MacBook Air M1 and recommend it to about everyone that can run a Mac. What a great piece of hardware. Honestly it just works, is super fast and doesn't even have a fan.

Oh the 9510 also has its surprises. First the Microsoft bluetooth mouse constantly went sleeping for about 500ms when not moving it. This annoyed the hell out of me. After lots of research I found some guys recommending to disable all sle

Didn't read it all, but regarding the battery and sleep issue: I can totally relate to such issues with my Dell XPS 15 9550 (2015) and 9510 (2021). Windows has this setting "When I close the lid" which is set to "Sleep&q

Isn't that "Kleincousin" in German? "Younger" could certainly match the "Klein" part. That would be the daughter of your cousins, so there's surely a male variant too.
