So the only thing that makes a Tesla charging station different from the rest is that they appear in the map of the Tesla app? That sounds reasonable, but I don't understand how it can be a "killer feature or Tesla" when Ford

The irony is that Hacker News, a prolific social media site, is publishing fake news about mental health in social media and making its users angrier.

Here's a thing I don't understand: will we ever leave the meme stock bubble? Most stockmarket gains have been happening with companies with no dividends and no executive control for at least a decade. Other than very few exception

The report seems to have cash salary only. Most of these companies have a significant payout in stocks every year, and the ratio of stock to cash gets bigger the higher you go in the company.

What I don't get is why must Google Search completely shut down to fight this law. Can't they just stop crawling news sites that complain about revenue sharing?

The reason why /r/DIWhy exists at all is because people find weird objects interesting. I could totally see the top post in the subreddit with the carpet-pedal bike as part of a season exhibition in the Tate Modern.

I'm talking about using the phone's software to block the data connection. If you don't trust that cellphone won't transfer your private data via USB, I don't understand why you trust it not to do it via any wireles

That's my point. If I can't tell whether this charging cable is secretly an USB keyboard, isn't it better to explicitly tell my cellphone to treat it as charge-only instead of relying on physical solutions?

Wouldn't it make more sense to control it by software? Android already allows you to only use an USB connection for charging. Setting this as the default when you are in an unknown place sounds reasonable.

Most of a car's price is decided by its company before it's even assembled. If I'm buying a car with cash it's irrelevant how other people pay. House prices are defined by demand. If your uncle wants to buy a house with

Now that the elections are over: does anyone think they were underwhelming? 2016 had the real threat of both never-Trumpers and Bernie-or-busters, and a lot of weird drama with pizzagate, grab them by the pussy, and her emails. 2020 had not

WiFi kills fiber for me. I can only get ~400mbps out of my 1gbps connection since all of my devices are wireless, and this is still so fast that I cannot justify the work of adding a physical cable to my setup. I can already stream 4K video

I didn't realise how much I had internalised the sound of cars until I found out how pleasantly silent Venice is at night. All cities should be car-free. Noise, fumes, and bad use of city space are a disservice to humanity.
