This is an excellent start with excellent intentions. My first thought: it would help tremendously to have a dedicated, anonymous discussion forum to really have a chance at making an impact.

Do you need to be a black-wearing, idiot-calling rebel in order to be a creative genius? Of course not. But you need to observe reality, question it, and then act on your question. That's it. Milquetoast guys can do it too.

I was calling 'reddit posts about the "evil" Federal Reserve or how terrible of a person Thomas Edison' probably useless, not the entire other side of the argument.

I know people who work on Wall Street and I know people who work in the White House. They are some of the most brilliant people I know. That doesn't make the systems they collectively run any less corrupt or terrible than they are. You

I hope there is. Intelligent folks also run Wall Street and Washington but both of those systems are undeniably terrible. Perhaps this is different.

Right, I get that. That's why the company wants the capital. It's impossible for any young company to need this sum of money at once. But it doesn't justify the market giving it to them. The ultimate effect is the entire

I'll go ahead and be that guy... It's absurd that a company is raising a half-billion dollars in venture capital . So much opportunistic capital tied up in one place makes zero sense, regardless of how good this venture may be.

Ads suck. How is valuable, insightful discussion not worth paying for? Give me an example of an ad-funded discussion medium that does well. Even reddit isn't profitable. Guess I won't be touching this concept with a 10-foot pole.

How does paying for a service hinder you from capturing its value? Do you not value your house or car because you have to pay for it?

Would you pay for this? Like a couple of bucks per discussion or something? I've thought about the same thing before but can't figure out how economics would work. Everyone expects things to be free free free nowadays. I think i

The question is...how much tip? You don't know whether the tip they're paying is low, reasonable, or generous. A profit-seeking corporation is going to minimize expenses as much as it can.

It may be cultural, but I think it boils down to corporatism. In a traditional job, there's no subjectivity in what you're paid. You have a rate or a salary and are paid according to that. It's pretty straight-forward. With S

Oh I see what you're saying. My point is that those wages Soothe pays probably won't be as high as a typical tip-based wage one could earn without Soothe, because Soothe will want to minimize its costs as much as possible. Why pay

What do you mean? Most workers don't work for tips. They have established salaries or wages that the employer is required to pay them. Tips are entirely optional. Official payroll isn't.

I've never had to work for tips, but I would HATE to have a profit-maximizing corporation be in charge of how much I get paid in entirely optional cash that has 0 impact on them.
