Even on Windows you wouldn't release a game that works on Windows older than 10 nowadays, you can assume a reasonable up-to-date distro. I am quite sure Steam Runtime works at least as far back Ubuntu 16.04, the oldest distro that I ca

Both PulseAudio and X.org are in general stable, don't know about Wayland but I don't think many games target it yet. The major issue is OpenGL drivers, they can be a pain on Linux (specially proprietary ones like NVIDIA).

Zero PulseAudio, just the `pipewire-pulse` daemon (that replaces it). Better yet, all PulseAudio clients that I tried just works (including things like `pavucontrol`).

I recently switched to PipeWire on NixOS 21.05 release. It was mostly seamless (except for some issues of not running it at realtime with rtkit, something that PulseAudio does automatically) and having access to new codecs like mSBC and SBC

Parsing unstruted strings without escaping special characters is an issue in any language. This is completely Apple's fault.

Yeah, no user application should cause a blue screen of death or kernel panic under normal circumstances, unless it is either a bug or they're messing with something from the kernel (but in this last case, you generally need to run the

I think there is Clojure and cloJure. The language is very different if you can mostly get by writing pure Clojure code, and another language altogether if you need to interop with Java constantly. If you can get by mostly writing Clojure c

We have many more issues supporting multiple versions of iOS than supporting multiple versions of Android. But neither are not even close to the nightmare that was J2ME.

I find it really bizarre that it takes hours to run whatever background process iOS has after an upgrade, especially because in Android's case this is AFAIK rebuilding the Dalvik bytecode while iOS should use a compiled language (Objec

I write Python for years (including messing code) and never feel the pain I found when I edit an even a slightly complicated YAML file. The issue is not really the significant indentation of YAML, it is more of the ambiguity of the syntax p

AFAIK it doesn't, it expects a continuous file without fragmentation. On btrfs systems, for example, I have to set a bit to disable COW for the file to be used as a swapfile, otherwise it will not work.
