I assume you are labelling trump the authoritarian. He has very little ability to impact on the majority of US spending, whilst a true authoritarian should be able to. The system has been corrupted to such an extent that it is basically imp

The drivers of this in my view are: 1) flight from USD assets given views that one cannot depend on US assets as safe havens 2) central banks increasing gold holdings 3) purchases by Chinese investors as they have few places to invest their

The price of houses has just gone up because they have removed a real estate tax. Simple, and short sighted. The taxes need to be raised from somewhere so now let's see what convoluted and complex schemes they come up with to do that.

Introverts probably socialise less because they find it more tiresome or find fewer opportunities they would enjoy. Would they fall under "unhealthy"?

Similar to another comment here: the principle agent issue here is the person designing the spec for busses is not the person paying for the buses. If it was the case then the market would settle on a common standard as everyone seeks the l

I remember the days of cpu clock speed being displayed on the outside of the computer case using an led display. There was also this turbo button but I'm not sure whether that really did anything.

I wonder if this is because a memory cap was reached at that output token. Perhaps they route conversations to different hardware depending on how long they expect it to be.

Is there any reason to believe that antibiotic resistance is a problem given the potential for new ones and the rotation of existing ones?

The causes for this, in my mind, are largely because of: 1) regulatory frameworks (which work to protect vested interests in my world view), mean that costs of doing business are higher, defending incumbents from competition. Banking regula

I guess pedantically it would be 15% to 20% is what happened. I guess what I am also trying to say is that the capacity for production is there for much higher, but it's just not being utilised. See Tesla sales being flat/down, or

Electric car sales were 20% of all sales, so 26% increase is hardly a "surge". Going from a low base this is supposed to be higher. I think what we are seeing is that electric car interest isn't as strong as governments hoped

To the comments that talk about Iranian politics: Iran under a monarchy will do well, perhaps even limited democracy. The monarchies of the Arab world seem to be doing well, and not by chance. Democracy alone is not good for any country in

This is called marginal pricing. Everyone pays the price of the marginal producer. In some cases they try to get the data centres to pay for their infrastructure costs but the argument is that customers don't pay this normally but do s

When I referenced long lasting I mean that some nuclear power stations are no forecast to keep going for 120 years. CO2 in the atmosphere is also long lasting, do you have a problem with that type of storage? Spent nuclear fuel is dangerous
