That smells familiar. I worked with one of those wizards and he designed everything to keep him the job. That was until he rode a motorbike into the side of a car at 100mph and someone else (me) inherited it. I had to start again because it

I thought this was going to be a replacement for all the free desktop crap for a minute. Now I’m disappointed.

Problem is there is no ground plane so you do get absolutely horrible signal integrity whatever you do including decoupling. Refer to AN47-26: https://www.analog.com/media/en/technical-documentation/appl... (

Or an absolute mentalist. I’ve used breadboards for 30 years and almost always spent more time debugging problems with the board than the circuits. Solder FTW.

I never understood it either. It was usually silver bearing multicore solder so it had flux, had no issues with flow. The stuff was an absolute joy to work with.

She might have been a "lead licker" who was an earlier generation soldering expert who used to literally lick the solder. This was forcibly stopped in approx 1980 here but I noticed people doing it when I was working on a line as

Party politics is a separate shit show. It should be an elected council with no single representation. That would allow smaller, manageable policy changes rather than burn the entire universe every few years.

I’ve always said that governments should use our tax money to design and validate key health and infrastructure components and only outsource manufacturing and only to local businesses. Governments are so utterly broken and inefficient that

Yes. The smell of the gas meter under the stairs at my nan’s house in the early 1980s. If I smell that ever I get instant recall of staying there when I was a kid.

I actually quit a company in 2004 because they decided to go VB.net first. Was a good move because they are still on it and up shit creek now. I’m not sure how they managed to retain any staff as long as they did.

Yes I agree. But this industry is driven by fashion not engineering or risk analysis both of which are changed to fit the scenery. There are very few purists left who understand this.
