I understand. You are saying an extra 30K won't make your life very different but an extra $3m would. And you have 30K lying around you can gamble for that chance. I get it. There's still opportunity cost lying around all over the

if you don't need that money why are you betting it to get even more money you don't need? :) It is risk, maybe not existential risk for you but risk. If you have a savings account, you don't need that money right now probabl

For now the apps that aim for a kill are games. I've tried many VR games and I've only really liked one, Elite: Dangerous. I don't know if it's the killer app VR needs, probably not, but it's impressive and I trul

To me this sounds too much like one side of the story. There's no proof of anything and there are a few red flags so I don't know if this is all true or it's a hit piece on GH. I've no idea and if anything, I find amusin

I think nobody really touches David Simon in TV. He's like Miyazaki in anime I feel. First it's him, then everybody else. The Wire, Treme, Generation Kill... it's just another level. On the next step below we'd have thin

I think part of the reason they are not talked about anymore is that people like to talk about the hot and sexy and not the mature and incrementally improving. The hot and sexy now is full of Javascript and noSQL so ORMs aren't as rele

I would see it this way: I would offer to give that person more responsibility and more and perhaps more complex work. He could decide to perform as before and keep browsing reddit but if they choose to take more work that's likely the

Well then you should be as shocked at the transformation of an exciting research field from a technical pursuit to a den of scammers, con artists and desperately ignorant speculators. That's why you see the attitude you see in HN.

Again, this is opinions but I just disagree. I listened to the links you pointed and bit more about spongle. They sound nice, I don't dislike it I will probably listen to them again some time when I want some groove going on, they are

This kind of starry eyed delusional exaggeration is why btc/eth/ico, etc. are seen with suspicion in places like HN. Blockchains is an area of active research, they are nowhere near the most important thing in any amount of time,

Well, if a court makes you liable for some payment and you have eth assets, they will force you to liquidate and pay. They can't confiscate it but if you refuse you go to jail.

Again, that's what I said, it's subjective. To me infected mushroom and splonge (or however it's spelled) is nice sounding gym music, very little complexity or depth. It sounds like 1000 other trance or rave songs and little

Yeah but those stocks were going up regardless. I thought the only point in Yahoo existing for the past few years was trying to figure out some way to avoid tax on selling the alibaba/yahoo japan stake. Yahoo critically failed at that

If you want to understand finance 360, from compliance to settlements, from middle office to government bonds structuring, sure, get a CFA. But somebody learning to trade not only doesn't need one, but very little of what's in it
