They are going all in on tolerating third party AI slop on Youtube. That feels like an executive decision at this point. Guessing: because they have AI products in the pipeline that can create Youtube shorts or similar. This aspect will be

The ultimate goal is to make anonymous speech online seem shady and suspicious (only trust thoughts from certified citizen accounts) and to make people more cautious about what they write online. Politicians are really tired of being mocked

You have to use an adblocker on mobile these days. On iOS it’s tricky with Chrome. Use e.g. Brave or Vivaldi instead. It’s built-in.

It sounds like you are approaching this from a Marxist perspective. Have you tried thinking about this from other perspectives? (Just as an exercise.)

In practice it's a combination of: a) wanting to soon expand this scheme to catch criminal gang communication (violent narco-related crime is exploding in e.g. some northern EU countries) [center-right goal] b) wanting to make people m

That sucks for that usecase, agreed. On the plus side, there is finally a free modern piece of software that matches 80s MacDraw and MacPaint on the Mac. (Keynote isn’t it.)

I’d be okay with that if they fixed iOS 26 looking like dog poo. (I’ll simply keep using the superior Google Maps anyway. I’m sure it has has ads but it hasn’t bothered me.)

I'd say YC/HN needs to invest more in detecting fake voting. It's becoming clear they they are mostly relying on flagging, these days. This is however easily abused. (Alas...)
