Never understood the hype. Good for the guy but what was the product really? And he goes on and on about changing the world. Gimme a break. You cashed out. End of story.

All these tools are can be a big waste of time if you’re an end user dev. It only makes sense if you are investing your time to eventually use that workflow knowledge to make a product.

Electricians make more money than an average developer. A commercial one will be like being a staff level dev. This is why it is gatekept in most municipalities. To be fair, being a good electrician is not easy.

Sign me up to be an electrician. The line for that is pretty long and gatekept.

Tbf, they are not far from a Truss-squared moment. And doesn’t help that CCP is gaining momentum with US leaving a vacuum while Sino-Japanese relation is going down the toilet.

Andy stay safe. We gotta all come to realization that none of this is possible if we let our democracy slip away. Millions before us died to preserve it. We owe it to them to put up a good fight.

It’s not that AI will replace softwares. It’s that AI will replace people using softwares. Less workers means lower sales. There will be exceptions but a big chunk of B2B space is basically going away.

Besides the obvious, why do engineers with real skills still work for this guy?

Really? I frankly don’t know anyone who’s not on Linux. If you do any AI/ML you basically find yourself on a Linux box eventually. Perhaps I live in a bubble.

Bugs me they treat MacOS as first class. Do people actually develop on a Mac in 2026? Why not just start with Linux?

I am so tired of people defending Tesla. I’ve wrote off Tesla long time ago but what gets me are the people defending their tech. We all can go see the products and experience them. The tech needs to be at least 100x more error free vs huma

Software sector basically got cut in half just on Claude Code. You have to wonder what is next. I don’t think loss in economics is 1:1 with replacement so it’s not zero sum. Production doesn’t necessarily go up. In fact, net output is going

Went from pandas to polars to duckdb. As mentioned elsewhere SQL is the most readable for me and LLM does most of the coding on my end (quant). So I need it at the most readable and rudimentary/step-wise level. OT, but I can’t imagine

I actually think it’s best that HN flags and removes them because we are quickly entering a stage in this country where you will be flagged by the government monitoring the internet. I would caution people to start using VPN and continuousl

It’s really not going to bump up terribles to mediocres. It’s only going to mask the terribles and make it harder to assess intelligence and talent. Underlying human intelligence is not going to get a boost from AI. Intelligence is mostly i

For 96% of the population, AI will not boost production. Generally speaking people are too stupid to use AI properly at least for awhile.

There’s a weird bias that software development is difficult. It’s mostly monkey stuff. 80-90% of the job is basically coding up things to spec. You can make an argument that being a car mechanic is far more difficult than being a front-end

Up until about a month ago, I’d have argued it’s overblown. However, I think this time it’s a real possibility and perhaps even certain. This country is absolutely going down the toilet and China is using this opportunity to strengthen its

This is not how business is conducted in real world. You can’t just hack something together and expect the other party to let you “get away” with it indefinitely. If your product relies on some other vendor, then do it properly with ACTUAL

Please stop spreading this nonsense. Anthropic is not blocking Opencode. You can use all their models within Opencode using API. Anthropic simply let Dax and team use unlimited plans for the past year or so. I don’t even know if it was offi
