People simply got used to not getting paid interest for their deposits. Bank business model needs to change or there will be new business models where deposits are fully guaranteed. That’s probably what the crypto people should have done bu

All these recent bank failures due to lack of oversight by the Fed. As we learned in 2008, you can’t just blame financial institutions because they’re going to take the easiest route every single time. The Fed is there for a reason. They co

It’s really not that expensive. You make it sound like Netflix is getting away with murder. If you use it, pay for it. Grow up.

I hate what Wojcicki did to Youtube but their decision to pay content creators will go down as not only one of the greatest business decisions, but for all things internet related in the past 30 years.

Remember when Apple basically gave away computers to schools during 80/90s? I feel it created a long-term positive impact for the company down the road. Chromebook might accomplish the opposite.

Why ChatGPT? It can be other AI solutions. AI in general is going to change education. It’s going to make world-class education available to everyone. It’s going to rewire our brains.

Correct me if I am wrong but they are giving money to the homeless in SF. This is attracting a lot of homeless people into the city. In fact, based on recent interviews, I know people from as far as Boston are making their ways to SF freigh

These are nice and I have MK3 as well. However, I am doing most of my prints on HP MJF these days. It’s so much better and the cost is very reasonable. FDMs are good toys that require love. A lot of it (which can be good and bad).

I strongly disagree with that assessment. Creativity is not going away and that’s never going to get replaced not because AI can’t do better but because that’s what makes us humans.

Can’t be the only one who thinks this is possibly a ploy by VC bros to make Fed blink on interest rate hikes. Only they could have triggered such a bank run and only SVB.

It’s not coincidence that Fed (and SEC) did not get in the way of Wall Street money machine at the height of SPAC and meme mania despite raging inflation. They continued QE even after admitting to inflation pressures that could toil the eco

I don’t think it’s good. ChatGPT is clearly better but that too is not that great. We are still a couple more iterations away. I also wonder if Google is at disadvantage because they’re not utilizing Nvidia hardwares? Or not to the extent O

Exactly this. They took one toxic bank and made it into a bigger one. No one wants to hold UBS after this.

This deal makes no sense. They also wrote down some creditors to zero while equity holders got at least a few cents. Edit: and now CBs come out with additional coordinated measure.

Yes, and last week the backstop was 30B CHF. So why did they increase that by more than 3x within days? Makes no sense other than UBS finally looked at the books and freaked out.

This deal stinks of panic. I know they’re rushing to calm the market but I think it will have the opposite Streisand effect. Last week it was 30B CHF now they’re throwing 100B CHF to make it work? Something is terribly wrong with CS book.

I guarantee FB will never succeed in VR/AR. It’s DOA considering that he completely destroyed public trust in the past decade plus. Based on prototypes he showed last year, it’s really Oculus in name only.

Arguably, Facebook had the best shot at breakthroughs in AI/ML. Instead, Zuck decided to spend all the resources on metaverse toys. He lacks vision. No, he’s an antithesis to innovation.
